I would like to welcome our guest today, TJ Hunt. I have known TJ for many years, going back to our days in Sloatsburg, NY and it's a great pleasure to have him in the show.

TJ is the Director of Scouting and Operations for PBR in New Jersey.  There is really no one better to discuss the current state of recruiting than showcase operators on the front lines and TJ is one of the best.

Before we get to the show, I just want to briefly cover TJ’s background, because if there is such a thing as a baseball family, the Hunts are it!

• Let's start with his grandfather, the late Jim Hunt, who spent much of his life coaching baseball at Englewood, Tenafly High schools, and Fairleigh Dickinson University in NJ.
• TJ’s father, Mickey, was also head coach at Ramapo High School here in NJ for 17 years.
• His older brother Shooter, currently with PBR as well, was a college star at Tulane and was drafted in the first round of the 2008 MLB Draft by the Minnesota Twins.
• His younger Brother, KC, is currently with Mississippi State and was selected by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 12th round of the 2022 MLB Draft, but has chosen to return to the school for this spring.

TJ himself is a 2015 graduate of Monmouth University where he pitched for four years and played for the Rockland Boulders after graduation.

David came to the Gators from Florida Atlantic, where he spent 4 seasons as the Owls pitching coach and recruiting coordinator. Prior to FAU, he served as the pitching coach and recruiting coordinator at Florida Southern, after a short stint at his alma mater Clemson.

David is a graduate of Clemson University with a degree in sports management. While playing there, he powered the Tigers to 3 NCAA Super Regional appearances, one ACC Championship and one NCAA College World Series appearance.
  
After the 2007 season, he was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 2nd round of the MLB Draft. He wrapped up his professional career in 2014 after pitching for 8 seasons in the Minor Leagues.

My interview today is with Mike Kanen, Regional Crosschecker with the San Diego Padres. I have known Mike for several years going back to when our facility was in Sloatsburg, NY, where he used to run scouting events for the Indians inviting only a handful of players and their families for closeup meetings and evaluation.

I have interviewed many college coaches during the past year and I am very interested to hear how  college and pro ball perspectives can differ on the recruiting and scouting front.  Join us as we dig into a variety of topics, including:

My guest today is Brandon Golden, former collegiate and MiLB Performance Coach, currently with 5 Tool Connection a performance science company.  I met Brandon recently at the Wake Forest Bridge seminar and walked away very impressed with his unique approach.  We will be discussing much of what he takes his athletes through in preparation for a long season of baseball.  Topics include:

Todays podcast is a must listen for coaches, players and parents alike. Graeme is a strength and conditioning coach as well as a pitching coach consultant and all-around smart guy. He has developed a method for assessing pitchers in order to better individualize training through the use of what he calls a “pitcher’s profile”. 

More recently, Graeme served as a Remote Sports Scientist Consultant with an MLB Organization from 2017-2018 (can’t disclose due to NDA), where he helped develop initiatives to improve athletic development and worked on projects aimed at individualizing training and throwing mechanics.  He was also a Pitching Performance Coach with Tread Athletics in Charlotte, NC from 2019-2020.

He has a Bachelor of Business Administration from University of Jamestown, North Dakota and a Master’s of Science in Kinesiology from Memorial University of Newfoundland.  His thesis was titled "Correlation of Throwing Velocity to the Results of Lower Body Field Tests in Male College Baseball Players".  He was a 4-year Varsity Pitcher at University of Jamestown – 1999-2003.

Dr. Freehill is a board-certified, double fellowship-trained specialist in orthopedic surgery with a sub-specialty certification in sports medicine. His concentration is in shoulder and elbow. Dr. Freehill also teaches in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Stanford University School of Medicine.

Today's guest is University of Virginia (UVA) pitching coach Drew Dickinson.  Very excited about this podcast, as Drew brings a wealth of knowledge to the table from one of the strongest and most consistent programs in the country. Topics Include:

The upcoming 2023 season is Drew's fourth year as UVA's pitching coach. During the first three seasons, the Cavalier pitching staff was one of the most steady and productive units in all of college baseball. UVA’s team ERA of 3.67 during this period is the 11th lowest in the country and second lowest in the ACC.  In 2021, the pitching staff was the backbone of UVA’s run to its fifth College World Series. Under Drew's leadership, UVA pitchers shattered the program’s decade-old record for strikeouts.

Prior to his arrival at Virginia he spent eight years on staff at his alma mater, Illinois. Under his guidance, the Illini established new school single-season records for ERA and strikeouts.  One of the best pitchers in Illinois history, Drew was selected in the 28th round by the Oakland Athletics in the 2002 MLB Draft.

My guest today is Corey Muscara, Pitching Coach at Wake Forest University.  Corey has been a long-time friend and always a great conversation. Today's topics include:

I have known Corey for almost as long as RPP Baseball has been in existence and I can tell you that he knows the art of pitching as well as anyone with an uncanny way of explaining mechanics like no other.

Corey finished his first season with Wake Forest in 2022 after being officially added to the staff on July 2021.  Under his guidance, the pitching staff made a drastic improvement in 2022 as they dropped their team ERA by a whole run per game from 2021 to 2022.

Corey began his coaching career at Southern New Hampshire in 2010 before moving onto Binghamton for the 2011 campaign and St. John's from 2013-2017.  Prior to joining Wake Forest, Corey served as Maryland’s pitching coach from 2018-21.

Corey graduated from Franklin Pierce with a bachelor's degree in History in 2009.

My guest today is Sam Miller, Founder and CEO of Proteus Motion. For those of you that haven't heard of Proteus, it's the ultimate training machine for rotational athletes like baseball players by measuring their power and acceleration in ways we couldn't do previously. 

Sam is a really interesting guy with a fascinating background.  He is graduate of Vanderbilt with a degree in Economics and History.  He also has a masters from the Harvard University Graduate School of Design.  After graduation he was with Suffolk Construction, a pretty sizable company, in various capacities in project management, architecture and design for nearly six years.  The question is, how did we go from construction and design to a highly engineered product called Proteus.

So, I am going to ask Sam how Proteus came to be.  I know that MIT and a dad are involved in there somewhere. Lets welcome  Sam Miller and take a listen to the future of training power in 3D.  Topics Include:
