Today's episode is featuring Oldsoul! We have a conversation with Jess and Tom about the growth of their songwriting journey in the band. Beginning in basement venues, and connecting through Jake of Counter Intuitive records, Jess and Tom talk about their journey as a band and their love for connecting with a live audience through their sound. By collaborating and building off one another, they fleshed out what they feel is their sound. They talk about recording, their latest album "You Were Overwhelmed", and their latest singles, "Safety Net" and "High on Yourself". Due to the pandemic, the two discuss how diy music is changing, and the influence of social media on bands starting out. Tom speaks of his favorite guitar, his rare Fender Toronado, and Jess talks about how she loves meeting people at shows. Tune into episode 82 to hear the inner workings of Oldsoul!
We had Kevin Nichols on for this exciting interview. Kevin released "Disappointer" on August 21 and goes in-depth about everything that went into this album. The record label, Slang Church, played a huge role in getting this album out. Kevin thinks back to when he released the EP "Long Lungs," and Billy (Slang Church) telling him that he could put out a full-length album while the two were talking outside of an acoustic show. Now, two years later, after receiving the support of Billy, and other members of the Bay Area, the album is getting some buzz. Kevin also talks about playing at Bandcamp Daily, getting into music because his father worked for Bose speakers, moving out to the Bay Area, and getting fired from his job for sticking up for those less fortunate. Kevin is playing in an epic show with Shutups and Slumped on September 25 -- check it out if you are in the area!

Today's episode is with the one and only Eric from Heart Attack Man! Eric discusses his love for T-shirt collecting, and his ability to be interactive with his audience. He credits a lot of his love to the way the band interacts with the fans, creating inside jokes and memes on instagram, tiktok and twitter. After highschool was when Eric began truly breaking out of his shell, and he became more comfortable performing on stage and fleshing out his online persona, however he's still TERRIFIED of the idea of karaoke. He began building confidence in 5th grade, however, when he started making jokes to his teacher and classroom about leaving his books out overnight. Eric discusses the collaboration of the band when songwriting, the different responsibilities of the members, and band dynamics. He talks new releases, and trying to create stories in pop punk and emo. Thank you to Eric for hopping on episode 80, and take a listen to hear the inner workings of heart attack man!

We sat down with Lea Thomas for this interview. She is fresh off the release of her album "Mirrors to the Sun," which came out on July 23. Lea spent some time in Vermont while recording this album. She transformed a house into a studio. It allowed her to get in touch with nature and sometimes go for a walk through the woods to clear her head. Nature was a big theme throughout this album. Also, the listeners see Lea's love for wolves appear in this release. The song Hummingbird is about a dream she had where she transformed into a wolf -- the full story is incredible and it opens the door to a full discussion about dreams. We also chatted about how Lea's musical journey first began on piano, how she is a visual artist who focuses on hand weaving and natural dyes, and her time spent learning about herbal medicine. Check out Lea's music below!

We had Keith, Ben, Gooey, and John of Parting band on for this interview. With the four members living in three different states, the band found new ways to create their debut EP called "Unmake Me" which was released back in June with Count Your Lucky Stars. There is loads of experience in the band. Each member comes from different projects, such as the influential Empire! Empire! and Annabel The band told us about some of the obstacles they encountered because of distance while making this EP. The difference between when they were first joining bands, to now being in their 30s and having full-time jobs and families. Keith also talks about the unique names he picks for every song. Plus so much more!

We sat down with New Jersey's own Joey Walsh of Wyndup Kid to chat about his recent release called "Disco." It's a fear of missing out anthem. Joey thinks back to before quarantine when there were nights that he decided to stay indoors instead of going out. He has decided that he is going to branch out and do the things he loves because they make him happy.
The music is a fun watch. Joey wanted it to fit the energy that the song should display. His manager Matt threw him a loose concept of people dancing and said think of Molly Ringwald in the Breakfast Club. Joey decided he wanted to do dysfunction dancing through the decades. He refused to stand there and perform because it wasn't a live show. There was no plan going in. That is how the fun video came to be. Keep a lookout for Gary in the video! He steals the show!
Wyndupkid has been started several times, but this single is for real this time. It's leading to something exciting. Joey was balancing a job as a garbage man and was always trying to find the right time to put together music. To this day he's till juggling multiple things like working as a music teacher and going to school, but is in a better head space to write music now. Joey came to realize that if he's not in the best place, then the whole thing won't work. Through patience, he was able to work up to Wyndup kid. Check them out below!
