Season 1 is in the books! It ends with Hot Girl. Michael lets a "hot girl" use the conference room to sell purses. The running joke is that she's a "hotter version of Pam." She has all the men (especially Michael) in a tizzy. The Office turns competitive when Michael (on behalf of the sales team) challenges the workers in the warehouse to a game of Basketball to determine who will have to work on Saturday. Michael and Dwight are as bad at hoops as you might expect. Stanley is much worse than Michael expects. Jim is actually pretty good. Somehow (plot) the sales team is winning when Michael takes an inadvertent elbow and calls the game off, but he's intimidated by the warehouse workers and decides nobody is working Saturday. Quick hitters: Pam is weird this whole episode. Kevin is a really good shooter. Dwight is the star of the Alliance episode. In the face of looming downsizing, Dwight asks Jim to form an alliance. Jim doesn't know what this means, but takes this as a sign from whatever higher power he believes in and runs with it. One particular high note is when Dwight climbs into a box in the warehouse to spy on a rumored meeting of members of a competing alliance. Dwight Schrute is the star of the Healthcare episode. When Michael Scott is told he must pick a new, cheaper Healthcare plan for the employees of Dunder Mifflin Scranton branch, he knows it won't be received well. So, he does what Michael does when he has to do something he knows people won't like... he delegates.   On Jim's suggestion, he puts Dwight on the task and he's more than happy to be given this responsibility. Welcome to Belated Binge: The Office - Super Fan edition! In these first two episodes we're introduced to what till become our work family: Michael Scott, Jim Halpert, Pam Beesly, Dwight Schrute, and the rest of the beloved employees of Dunder Mifflin. With downsizing looming in The Pilot, Michael decides it would be a good time to hire a new temp worker: Ryan.
