The Twilight Saga from a guy's perspective! In this fifteenth (15th) episode of this brand new podcast, your host, Jez, discusses the second half of Chapter 5 "Blood Type" of the novel that started it all, Twilight, by Stephenie Meyer.
Blood Type. Chapter 5 of Twilight. I call it the lost chapter as very little of it ever made it into the film. Yet, it’s a chapter chock full of fascinating discussion points and insights into our beloved Bellward. Major topic: is Edward Cullen a misogynistic abuser? Is he toxically masculine, or has this scene been taken out of context and/or blown out of proportion?
I hope you join me in the discussion. Episode #15 of Bella’s Goodness Podcast scheduled to drop on 05/26/2021

This special episode focuses on Jez becoming Team Jacob for a day - Enjoy Bella's Goodness Podcast, episode 10!
*************
I’ve fought it for too long. But last night I was up late re-reading TTS for the hundredth time… and it washed over me like a tidal wave - Bella was *always* meant to be with Jacob Black. Jacob is clearly her *one* *and only* true love and it’s sooooo clear from the text that I don’t know how I ever missed it before.
So today I am announcing Bella’s Goodness Podcast is Team Jacob forever (and ever).
Here are the top three reasons why I’m #TeamJacob
1. In the opening chapter we learn that Bella is getting Billy Black’s truck. A clear reference to a deep connection waaaaaaaaaaaay before we *ever* hear about Edward. Smeyer is foreshadowing the actual focus of the series. Bella’s love of family (as seen in her relationship with Charlie) is directly connected to this Swan/Black friendship and bond.
2. All of Twilight is really just a preface to where the actual Twilight Saga begins which everyone knows is when Edward leaves in New Moon (Smeyer has always said that when Edward leaves in New Moon is really *Chapter One* for the real story.
3. All Twilight does as a novel is establish that Edward falls into the traditional “perfect guy” mold, a stereotype that has no real effect on Bella. Bella is not looking for a knight in shining armor (like in the car accident scene). All that does is re-establish traditional stereotypes of patriarchy, and Bella wants nothing to do with that.
4. Bella’s last name is Swan, a reference to her own ancient roots tied to nature and animals. “Cullen” has nothing to do with the earth or animals - a clear indication from Smeyer that Edward is not intended for Bella. Jacob Black is not only a wolf - animal connection to the Swan of Bella - but also black like the color. We all know there are black wolves and black swans.
5. From the wedding scene onward (remember how unhappy and scared Bella was early on in the wedding?) TTS finishes out as a dystopia showing what happens when you make the *wrong* decision. The marriage of Bella and Edward is fraught with turmoil, anger, and danger from the outset - even on their honeymoon! Their marriage is a cautionary tale for the YA audience it was intended for all along.

The Twilight Saga from a guy's perspective! In this ninth (9th) episode of this brand new podcast, your host, Jez, covers chapter three "PHENOMENON" of the novel that started it all, Twilight, by Stephenie Meyer.
The discussion today focuses on the iconic and fateful near-death car accident scene - where Tyler almost kills Bella on the slick, icy pavement in the Forks High School parking lot. Jez discusses a lot of elements of love and relationships in this episode: trust, faith, being out of someone's league, the small injuries we inflict unknowingly on others, and so much more.

The Twilight Saga from a guy's perspective! In this eighth (8th) episode of this brand new podcast, your host, Jez, covers the last half of Chapter Two "Open Book" of the novel that started it all, Twilight, by Stephenie Meyer.
The discussion today focuses on the iconic and fateful Biology classroom scene - the moment Edward first speaks to Bella, and how she handles the dazzle (or doesn't handle it). We see a continued struggle and dissonance within Edward, and a baffled Bella as a result. Yet, there's one thing that's certain: there's electricity flowing between these two.
