  • Brandons Show - Inbound Marketing Is Freaking Important
In our very first episode of "The Half Show" Brandon discusses inbound marketing and why it's so valuable. Often companies look at inbound marketing as the "cherry on top" of their Sales and put much of their money towards building Sales teams. Brandon discusses why that is a foolish move in today's online world.

  • Defining Your Target Audience - Episode 119
In this weeks episode, we explore different methods of defining your target audience.
Whether you are in a very niche space or you are targeting a wide range of demographics, we cover it all...well, at least a lot of it.
There are two main underlining themes that we seemed to stick with:
    1. Your target audience is constantly evolving. This can be attributed to a changing business plan (as it was for Brandon), new insights (as it was for Jacob), or changing trends, etc.
    2. Mistakes are only mistakes if you don't learn from them. If you do, they become opportunities.
Einstein said, "If you can't explain it simply, you don't understand it well enough." As it is with your target audience.

  • Beware of Automation? - Episode 118
This episode is based on the video "Humans Need Not Apply".
Will digital marketing ever get to the point where we get automated out of a job? This is the question that leads our conversation in this episode.
This is not a new topic, humans have seen the end of many industries due to the automation process. Horses lost their job when the automobile was invented. Floppy discs lost their job when compact discs were invented. Even the compact disc didn’t last long thanks to the advent of the flash drive.
However, there is hope for the human race (and digital marketers), just ask Paxton...who ends up being this weeks optimist.

  • Psychological Biases - Episode 117
Psychological biases that may affect your digital marketing strategies.
The Halo effect - Have you considered how a customer’s or visitor’s previous experience with your brand might affect your current campaign? How can you take advantage of this bias? What pitfalls should you avoid with it?
Belief Bias - Is your offer too good to be true? Get yourself some powerful social proof, and frame the offer in a way they can relate to.
The Framing Effect - Is your audience risk-averse? Instead of focusing just on benefits you provide, you might need to cause imagined discomfort by not following the advice given.
Biases can either help, or hurt your campaigns. What other biases have you experienced?

  • 2016 Digital Marketing Predictions - Episode 116
Social is going to expand with new platforms and greater adoption of human-to-human connections. Brands are going to learn how to better connect to their audiences.
Organic influencers and evangelists (as non-owners) will become a greater force for brands to push content and connect. Brands will become more humanized through influencer marketing.
LinkedIn will either completely overhaul their platform, of fall. Competitors are expanding to fill their space, and LinkedIn isn’t innovating quick enough to stay ahead. LinkedIn lacks good content. LinkedIn’s mobile app experience is confusing. LinkedIn seems to be making choices that feel like negative “innovation” (i.e. their bcc to everybody function). Facebook is well poised to steal LinkedIn’s audience, and the demographics of the two platforms have huge overlap.
    Other topics:
    - Is Facebook Video going to compete with YouTube?
    - Purchases via Social are coming.
    - App development and mobile web will have explosive expansion.
    - Wearable tech will still be nascent.
    - VR is at a tipping point.
