  • MD-PhD Programs: The Definitive Guide

Your answer to the question “why do you want to be a doctor?” can help you determine whether MD-PhD programs are right for you. MD-PhD programs accept exceptionally bright and motivated applicants interested in becoming physician-scientists – this means that instead of focusing your time and efforts on clinical work, you will commit your life to scientific innovation and research. In addition to the demanding curriculum and extended period of study (7-8 years!), MD-PhD application procedures typically involve additional components and supplementary interviews.

Whether you are applying through AMCAS, TMDSAS, or OMSAS, you will be required to submit additional essay components explaining why you are the right fit for the MD-PhD program of your choice along with your AMCAS personal statement, AMCAS Work and Activities, or TMDSAS application. On this podcast, you will learn everything you need to know about MD-PhD programs, including a list of schools that offer MD-PhD programs, how to apply, and 5 tips to get accepted!

  • The Best MCAT CARS Practice by a 528 Scorer

It's important to begin your MCAT CARS practice by reviewing difficult sample passages. Anyone who has some experience with the MCAT Critical Analysis and Reasoning Skills (CARS) section will have come across a difficult passage. But the best MCAT CARS strategy is reviewing challenging passages and learning from your mistakes. After reading some passages, you think to yourself “What did I just read? What was that about? Huh?” These are the passages where you catch yourself reading the same lines over and over without really gaining extra comprehension.

While some may advise you to skip these passages so you can focus your time and energy on the easier ones, for anyone hoping to score 129+ on their CARS section, skipping an entire passage is hardly an option. To score above 129 while skipping an entire passage, you have to only get 2-3 other questions wrong in the entire section, meaning you must have at least 6-7 perfect passages! You must incorporate MCAT CARS practice into your MCAT study schedule to get a good MCAT score. In this podcast, we will go over challenging MCAT CARS practice passages and provide expert analysis and tips for how to ace your MCAT CARS section. These are the same exact strategies we use to help our own students get ace the MCAT as part of our MCAT prep programs. We're not holding back. Let's dive in!
