  • Ben Annand Live at In: Codes June 4, 2016
One of my favorites from 2016, being asked to play on a progressive lineup takes me out of my box and challenges me to play in a genre I'm not known for.
Music genres can be so loaded - as soon as you hear one you have your opinion.
This is my take on progressive and I really enjoyed the opportunity! I put a lot of intention into the set and am very happy with the way it is mixed.
Progressive is a genre known for its long break-downs, and I am a dj known for not often playing long break-downs, at least by themselves. Here you will find a lot of break-downs layered together - hope you enjoy the mix!
Thanks to Nick St Black for inviting me to play, to Cid Inc for the great set after mine, as well as the other djs - Brian Scannell, Nomad, Skeece, and No Cliu, for bringing LA something out of the ordinary :)

  • Mr. Annand live at Tropical 17-Year Anniversary Warehouse Jam, 10/9/15
Tropical was born on Friday, October 9, 1998 and this year we celebrated the anniversary exactly, to both the day and day of the week - Friday October 9, 2015!
The party featured 5 djs with over 100 years combined experience playing a mix of music old and new. A success on all levels, Tropical added another $1,051 to the total donated to charity causes over the years. Our beneficiary, Give a Beat, works with underprivileged youth in neighborhoods exactly like the one this party was held it
My set was from roughly 2:45-4:15am and despite not being able to prepare much, I'm very happy with how it came out.
After I got used to the sweltering temperature behind the decks (can't really take a break from it when djing)I was fueled by the love and energy of the Tropical dance floor, which was in full force!
We don't throw too many warehouse parties these days but this was a real good one that truly brought back the old days of Tropical.
I hope you enjoy the music I mixed together for this very special occasion!

  • Ben Annand Live at Tropical Boat Afterparty with Wulfpack, August 15, 2015
Recorded live 400-530am in a warehouse just south of downtown Los Angeles following the Tropical Boat Party in Long Beach.
This set is a deep chugger, smoothly building energy in the wee hours of the night :)
    Recorded between Hoj and Dink.
Big thank you to the Wulfpack who took the lead on this party while I was on the boat! We had a great night and raised money for The Wulfpack BM camp and Give a Beat.
    Enjoy the music!

  • Ben Annand - 3 Hours of a 4 Hour Set at Crowbar in Boise, ID, 11pm-2am August 29, 2015
Recorded live at Crowbar, Boise's first club dedicated
    to electronic music!
Many thanks to Eric Harris and Jason Kovac for giving me the opportunity to play a 4 hour set last Saturday night on opening weekend for Crowbar Boise.
Longer sets allow the artist to fully explore multiple styles and get into a flow not possible in the typical hour or hour and a half time frame :)
This got me to thinking to when the last time I played such a long set was, and it think it's all the way back to 2006 when I played 4 hours in Saratov, Russia (also first club I played on Funktion One), and 9 hours at the Shasta Gathering (my longest sets ever were here after starting a marathon tradition the first year I played unexpectedly into the morning).
