6:11am – TMZ posted a video of Janelle Monae calling out Nelly for performing at Trump’s inauguration
6:13am – The Dow started the day down 550 points due to the tariffs Trump issued on Canada, Mexico, and China over the weekend
7:07am – Arizona Republican Congressman Andy Biggs introduced a bill to abolish OSHA, aka the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, which ensures safe and healthy working conditions
7:21am – Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum announced that she’s spoken to Trump and that the US is pausing tariffs for one month in exchange for reinforced border security on Mexico’s northern border and the US committing to stop sending high-powered weapons to Mexico
8:44am – Hugh Jackman canceled his summer concert in London due to “an unforeseen conflict in his schedule”
8:48am – USAID (the independent agency that spends billions to support humanitarian efforts, which Elon Musk shut down over the weekend) will be absorbed by the State Department, essentially meaning all Presidents now have the ability to unilaterally decide which counties and projects get funding, whereas Congress used to hold that power. Marco Rubio now oversees the State Department and is the acting administrator of USAID.

12:30pm – A reboot series of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” is nearing a pilot order from Hulu, where Sarah Michelle Geller will reprise her role as Buffy Summers.
12:39pm – The ACLU filed a lawsuit challenging Trump’s shutdown of the American asylum system, saying it violated legal obligations the US has to offer refuge to migrants fleeing prosecution.
