In part 2 we explore the position of tongues which is secondary to prophesy, as well as giving interpretations of verses that seem controversial to the intended purpose of tongues. Paul never commended the use of tongues for one's edification but rather refutes that idea. A private prayer language 'in a closet' wasn't what he was talking about when he addressed the Corinthians but the gibberish (unintelligible or not understandable to man) they manifested in church, in public. The idea of 'in a closet' is brought about in our day due to firstly, people not understanding what Paul was addressing, and secondly a desire of the 'ecstatic', which was what Paul was refuting in the Corinthian church. All gifts were given for the 'common good' he says.
