Do you ever have any communication issues? Have your words or actions ever been misunderstood? So long as you continue to live on earth, for better or worse, you are sharing this planet with 7 billion people! Communication is a part of life. And because it is, Satan uses miscommunication to bring division and chaos to our families and churches. In Joshua 22, just as peace comes to the Promisedland, miscommunication nearly takes it back to war.

"My God is so big, so strong and so mighty, there's nothing my God cannot do." Maybe you sang that song as a kid growing up in Sunday School. For as childish as it sounds, those words are anything but cute for they are the core of our faith! How big is your God? Notice I didn't ask, "How big is God?" Do you believe God to be limitless in power, love, grace, and mercy? I do. And I think Joshua 10 show us this.

Have you ever had that moment when you see your parents in the your mirror? Maybe it was an expression, comment, or the way your hair has changed! As Pastor Adam continues in Joshua 9, you will have such a moment that you realize you too are a Gibeonite.

Today we move along to Joshua 7 and one of the less-desirable parts of the Bible. Why does God allow nations to be wiped out and cities burned to the ground? How does the loving God of the New Testament fit with the justice that is shown in the Old Testament? We'll answer that today as we look at the ugliness of sin.

Do you enjoy being embarrassed? Of course not. We got to great lengths not to 'look dumb' or be embarrassed. Marching around a wall every day for six days and than seven times on the seventh day followed by a bunch of yelling would have been... well embarrassing. Embarrassing had not the great walls of Jericho fallen down! So what is the application of this story? Should we march around buildings or people? Should we yell and expect miracles? We'll find that out today!

They are everywhere you look. You see them at park entrances, along the road, and in the center of the city. You visit them on certain holidays and meaningful dates. What are they? Memorials. Memorials dot our landscape in every city and town. They have all kinds of shapes and sizes. Some solicit sadness and other celebration. From war memorials in the center of town to retired numbers at the basketball arena, we are a nation that honors the past. Could the same be said of our spiritual lives? Do we honor what God has done in the past and share them with our children? As we look at Joshua 4, God calls the people to take notice and remember by building a memorial. What memorials can you build?

Watch your step! That's a phrase we often say this time of year as we trudge through snow, slush, and ice. What we walk in every winter is nothing compared to a single step that was taken in Joshua 3. God said it was time to cross over to the Promised Land. Thousands of years in the making - this is the time! All of Israel was ready except for this river that lay ahead of them. This was not just any little river - this was the mighty Jordan River! But when your God is sovereign over all of creation no river, big or small, is an obstacle to Him. We serve the same God with the same power today. He is calling you to the Promised Land. Follow Him... but watch your step - you don't want to miss the amazing wonders He will do!

You've heard the expression "casualties of war". In any war (noble or otherwise), there are the unfortunate innocent that get hit in the crossfire. Although that may be true in a modern sense, that wasn't true when God sent the Israelites into battle against the wicked city of Jericho. This city was occupied by people who were known for their sinful ways including child sacrifices. Yet there was one woman whose heart was turning to God. She would have been the least likely to have previously been seen in the temple or doing anything "religious". But God was working in the strangest ways for this prostitute with a heart turning to God.

"Be strong and courageous". If you've been around church very long you've probably heard this often quoted phrase from the book of Joshua. Does that mean we should bulk up and be fearless? Work out and have ice water in our veins? How are we to be strong and courageous? The answer might surprise you.

Boots hitting the muddy ground...people climbing over 10 foot walls... drills and more drills... have you seen those commercials? They are the few. The proud. The Marines. And while that may be true for branches of the military, that is not true with your relationship with God. Many people feel like only a few select "holy" people can have adventures with God. Only the ultra religious make the cut with God. That is just not the case. Today we begin our winter message series, Go: Be Undaunted, and begin to see that an adventure with God can be right around the corner from you!
