Best Kept Secret Podcast

Welcome back to another episode of the Best Kept Secret podcast show with your host-DJ Jon Lockley. Last month, Jon decided to bring us a mix of something he had never made before-Drum and Bass. Well, I think he's caught the DnB bug because he's brought us a part II to last month's mix. I'm guessing he had so many tracks that he wanted to share, it just took more than one mix to fit them all in. Hey! We ain't complainin'. And he's included a BRKN DWN DnB track that he whipped up recently. So, buckle up. It's 61 more minutes of the get down with the get down. As always, if you like what you're hearing, like, comment and share. Enjoy the journey!

Welcome back to another episode of the Best Kept Secret podcast show with your host with the most-DJ Jon Lockley. The ole randomizer wheel did so well choosing last month's genre, that the Lockstar decided to give it another spin. This time around, she stopped on Drum and Bass. Now this is a first for Jon as he has never made a Drum and Bass mix before. Oh yes, back in the day he dabbled around with the Drum and Bass on vinyl, but he never even attempted to make a full on mix of it. So, here we go folks. It's the Lockstar's debut mix of some jump up, filthy, nasty beats and bass that will have you needing to take a seat when it's done.. The whole mix is mint, but the first 30 minutes is on another level. As always, if you dig what you're hearing, like, comment, and share with your friends. Enjoy the journey!

Welcome back to another episode of the Best Kept Secret podcast show with your favorite DJ, Jon Lockley. Jon put a post up on his Facebook page recently asking what the people wanted to hear, got their suggestions, and spun the randomizer wheel. It must be fate, considering Jon resides in the "O-Town," as it landed on Florida Breaks. If you don't know what Florida Breaks are, then you might be too young or hate history. Either way, let's break it down for you.  Florida Breaks is funky but futuristic, and dirty but danceable. It was a staple in Florida club scenes, warehouse parties, and raves, especially from the late ‘90s to mid-2000s. Picture neon lights, palm trees, and sweaty dancefloors filled with breakdancing and bass-hungry ravers. The Lockstar has rummaged through his old vinyl, searched the internet far and wide, and found some of the absolute staple tracks from back in the day. Some of these tracks are 25-30 years old, but could still rock a dancefloor today. It includes tracks from some of the pioneers like Tony Faline, DJ Icey, Infiniti, Rick West, DJ Sharaz and more. Get ready for some Miami bass, some funky drummin', some scratchin', and melodic hooks that bring back that nostalgic feel. As always, if you like what you're hearing, like, comment and share. Enjoy the journey! Oh, there's one special bonus track at the end.

Welcome to another episode of the Best Kept Secret Podcast Show with DJ Jon Lockley. Jon brings us another treat this month. He's been on an old school tip lately with the throw back 80s Rap mix and the late 90s-early 2000s mix. Jon sifted through his computer and found this previously unreleased live mix by his alias-Boss Hawg playing at Club Fabric in 2009. What were you doing in 2009? Were you even listening to dance music? If not, let's take a little trip back in time and see what Boss Hawg was throwin' down. As always, if you dig what you're listening to, like, comment and share with your friends. Enjoy the journey!

Hey! We've reached episode 80, and Jon was recently asked to DJ an 80s party, so he decided to do something special, go back to the stuff he grew up on in the 80s. Yep, that Old School Rap/Hip Hop. As Jon tells it, this is the music that made him want to be a DJ. So many days and nights were spent riding around in a lowrider with 15 inch Kicker woofers bumping this very music right here. This mix is perfect for the old school heads out there ane even the new folks who need an education in real Hip Hop. The mix includes tracks by Ice T, Fat Boys, Biz Markie, Kid N Play Doug E Fresh, Heavy D & The Boys, Special Ed, Eric B & Rakim, X-Clan, Run-Dmc, 3rd Bass, EPMD, BDP w/KRS-ONE, UTFO, Marley Marl, and DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince. As always, enjoy the journey and if you like what you're hearing, like, share and comment.

There’s a guy named James who lives in Australia.  I first met James in Korea at a club in Busan. Some guy handed me a paper with a song request on it. I opened up the paper and got a good laugh. It read, “Play some Billy Ray Cyrus.” That’s how I met James. He’s been hounding me to make mixes for him since then and he’s still hounding me. Well, here’s a mix for James. This one brings us tunes from 1995-2008. It includes some of Jon's all time favorite tunes and some of James, as well. Call Marty and Dr. Brown. Tell them to fuel up the Delorian. We're headed back to the past! As always, if you like what you're hearing, like, comment, subscribe and share. Enjoy the journey1
