The Bickersons was a series of radio comedy sketches that premiered on NBC on September 8, 1946, switching to CBS the next year, where it lasted until August 28, 1951. The married protagonists spent almost all of their time in a constant verbal battle together. Philip Rapp, the one-time Eddie Cantor writer who also created the Fanny Brice skits that developed into the Baby Snooks of radio, created The Bickersons. Rapp produced and introduced John and Blanche Bickerson many years after the latter established itself as a long-running favorite, first as a brief sketch of The Old Gold Show and The Chase and Sanborn Hour and then as part of Drene Time as a 15-minute situational sketch.
