Today’s Best of Features:
(00:00 - 13:48) – 93.1 WIBC’s Jason Hammer joins the show to talk about the Pacers draft. Jason discusses how he feels as though things are looking a bit too good and that something must go wrong eventually due to his superstitions. Jimmy and Hammer then talk about how this roster isn’t complete yet and to expect at least a Myles Turner or Malcom Brogdon trade before the season begins. Then as is always the case when Hammer joins the show there was a little bit of NBA draft bet talk to close out the segment.
(13:49 - 38:06) - Former NBA Front Office Executive Dan Purcell joins the show to talk about the overall reaction to the NBA Draft. Jimmy asks Purcell if he believes Mathurin will be seen as one of, if not the best, player in this draft. Purcell then credits the Detroit Piston’s for managing to finesse Jaden Ivey at the fifth pick in the draft and the chances the New York Knicks made at trying to trade for him during the draft. Jimmy then gets Purcell’s take on Brogdon’s ability to be traded.
(38:07 - 51:36) – Tony East of Forbes and the “Locked On Pacers Podcast” joins the show to provide a national perspective on yesterday’s NBA Draft. East gives his take on what Bennedict Mathurin can provide to the Pacers this season and also touches on the Pacers trading up to acquire Kendall Brown from the Minnesota Timberwolves. Jimmy asks if there were any surprises in how the draft board panned out especially given the lack of trades early on.
