Christmas is past. But we are still Advent People which means that with the prophets, Simeon, and Anna we still wait for the coming of Jesus in glory!

What narratives do you hear? What narratives do you buy into? The story of Christmas is the story of God who has come near to you.

A great song has the power to turn a day around. God's song of salvation has the power to change lives. As Christmas approaches, we begin to hear this song that will swell when Christ is born!

When Malachi speaks to the returned yet disillusioned exiles, the prophet envisions the Messiah who comes as a refiner's fire. This Messiah, Jesus, will refine and purify His people by taking on our sins, going through the fire of death, and rising again on the third day.

When the prophets of the Old Testament envisioned a world filled with justice, righteousness, forgiveness, joy, and peace, they painted the picture using images such as a branch, fire, a song, and a shepherd. Although they are simple images, each one communicates a tremendous hope that one day God will reign, all evil will be defeated, and the ultimate celebration will begin!
