  • Patristics to Chalcedon - PDF
Those who don't know history are doomed to repeat it. Many of us don't know basic church history and thus don't know the story of how God has worked since the end of the New Testament. We also don't know why we do many of the things we do in our churches. Over six weeks we will look at the history of God's people from the end of the New Testament to the present with the goal applying our history to our lives. From heroes to heretics, priceless lessons will be gleaned.

Michael R. Newman (M.A.) licensed and ordained Southern Baptist minister is also a member of Houston's First Baptist Church. He is the director of Christian Coalition for Reconciliation, an educational, support, and discipling ministry for those struggling with sexual brokenness (particularly homosexuality), as well as those affected by it.
Having experienced God's transforming power in his own life, he helped establish CCR in Houston, Texas in 1985. CCR became a member of Exodus-International in 1987, making it the oldest ex-gay ministry in Texas. Michael served as the first Exodus Regional Representative for Texas for three terms since the inception of that program. Previous to ministry involvement, he was involved in international banking, education on secondary and college level, technical writing, and motivational speaking. Conversant in Spanish and French, he has ministered locally, nationally, and internationally (Canada, Europe, Central America, and South America).

  • Abide in My Love - Audio
As a star chemist at Rice University and one of the ten most-cited chemists in the world for his research and observations, Dr. Tour is not your average scientist in a university setting. Though Dr. Tour is clearly passionate about chemistry, he is also passionate about Jesus. In a world that increasingly associates scientists with atheism or agnosticism, Dr. Tour derives his inspiration from a deep faith and knowledge of God's Word.
He wakes up each morning at 3:30 AM, he says, to spend his first two hours with his Bible. “I read the Bible from Genesis Chapter 1 to Revelation Chapter 22, and when I'm done I start again,” Tour said. “I've been doing this for over 30 years. There is this amazing richness. I take a passage and I say, ‘Lord speak to me.' And then it just comes alive.”

Lovingly accepting on another, even to the point of limiting our freedoms for the sake of vulnerable, potentially stumbling brothers: would it surprise you that the conclusion of these instructions are Gospel-centered and as relevant as your last harsh word?
