This week someone commented on the chaos that seemingly infects our culture and broader world. What effects must this have on our Children and students? In the midst of chaos, what can we know for sure about God's working...about God's presence? Christmas marks the "With us" God. What does this mean?

These days we are bombarded with news. More and more information floods our way. And doesn't it seem the vast majority is bad news, news we would have glad gone without hearing? But some tidings come as good news, even great news. That's Gospel news! And it began outside Bethlehem, long ago.

The Promise of Christmas

The God of Israel guarantees to save Israel and you and me. His means are mysterious and glorious. The outcome is His greater glory and praise. Shouldn't that begin here, now, in our daily lives?

The God of Israel gives mercy to whom He pleases, leaving in sin those seeking to establish their own righteousness. But is there a future for the nation of Israel according to His promises? And what does it matter?

In defending God's rightousness and the cretainty of His promises, the Bible exalts God's sovereign choice in salvation. Does this leave room for human responsibility, for both our decision and God's choosing?

If the God of Israel has not saved Israel, what is there for anyone? Can He be trusted? The answer to this difficult question is itself notoriously difficult... yet properly understood, infinitely glorious.

No condemnation and freely forgiven in Christ. But some don't believe, including many of God's chosen people, Israel. Did His plan fail? Can we trust Him?
