It has been said that the Old Testament is the “New Testament concealed” and the New Testament is the “Old Testament revealed.” In no place is this concept better illustrated than in the Old Testament images of the tabernacle and of the feasts. Through this study we will examine these object lessons as they give us new insights into the life and ministry of the Lord Jesus Christ.
The seven feasts that God gave Moses some 3500 years ago are both prophetic and instructive. Still celebrated today, these feasts commemorate important points in Jewish history, as well as agricultural events in the annual cycle, and they are also instructive for us today. As Paul says in Colossians 2:16-17, the feasts are a shadow of things to come. Not only do they point prophetically to events in the first and second comings of the Lord Jesus Christ, but they also teach us how to deepen our personal devotional lives.
Jesus Christ says that He did not come to abolish the law and the prophets (the Old Testament) but to fulfill them (Matthew 5:17). We will see how true His words are as we study Christ in the tabernacle and in the feasts.
