    1.  Place God first
    “At the top of the ladder stood the Lord”     Genesis 28:13  

    “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.”     James 4:8

    2.  Regain our sense of awe
    “Jacob happened upon a particular place and spent the night there”                                                              Genesis 28:11

    “The Lord is in this place, and I didn’t even know it.”  Genesis 28:16

    3.  Adjust our perspective

    1.  Proceed by faith
    “Go…to the land I will show you”        Genesis 12:1
    “Isaac” – laugh

    “So Abram departed as the Lord had spoken to him”   Genesis 12:4

    “Abram went without knowing where he was going.”     Hebrews 11:8

    2.  Partner with God
    “so Abram built an altar there to the Lord”     Genesis 12:7

    “then Abram proceeded from there to the mountain…and pitched his tent…and there he built an altar”             Genesis 12:8

    3.  Persist until you reach your God-given destination

    4.  Pursue God’s plan with all of your heart.

    “keep yourselves from the accursed thing, lest you make yourselves accursed”  Joshua 6:18                                                                                
    “all the silver, and gold, and vessels of brass and iron, are consecrated unto the Lord”    Joshua 6:19                                                                                                
     “consecrated” – set apart, a sacred thing

          "snare" – a noose, specifically to catch animals

          "Do not let your heart envy sinners, but live in the fear of the LORD always.                                                                                                          Proverbs 23:17

          "In the fear of the Lord there is strong confidence, and His children will have refuge."      Proverbs 14:26
          "confidence" – refuge
          "refuge" – literally means a shelter

          "The fear of the Lord leads to life, so that one may sleep satisfied, untouched by evil."       Proverbs 19:23

          2.  Response of total obedience
          "go and strike Amalek and utterly destroy all that he has, and do not spare him"               1 Samuel 15:3

          "Why then did you not obey the voice of the Lord, but rushed upon the spoil and did what was evil in the sight of the Lord?"                   1 Samuel 15:19
