God comforts His people with the hope of the heavenly country. We have no earthly inheritance but look for a city whose builder and maker is God.

Following the destruction of Jerusalem and the deportation of the Jews to Babylon -among which many Edomites also were carried-, some of the remnant of Edom stood on the temple mount and drank a toast to the destruction of Israel. As we saw last week, this is a serious thing. For to attack a Christian is to attack God-----Yet this seemingly insignificant act was and is emblematic of every pagan before God- who arrogantly exalt themselves above God-

The treachery of sin in not the result of ignorance or a lack of education. Men do not end up in the gutter just because they are dumb, weak, or stupid. Here the wise, intelligent Edomites found that they were clueless when it came to sin's treachery. We are often blinded to our own sins.

Edom stands as a horrible example of the end of sin and so that which awaits all outside of Christ. The wages of sin is death.----We, as believers need to mourn those who already are as good as dead.

Pride does not rise in a vacuum. It takes root in the strength or advantage of an individual which sets them apart from others. Yet, on account of our sinful heart, it is this advantage which is a spring board into delusion. It is important to guard our heart from this sin and frequently pray that God might give us the grace to have an accurate view of ourselves.

The greatest blessing that God could ever give his people is a taste of the River of Life-

Through Ezekiel, God's people were privy to the glory of God leaving the Solomonic Temple. The God who left the physical temple now had made His people to be His temple. The glory of God's presence, though it left the physical temple, never left God's people. God goes with His people, even in the difficult things of this life.
