Bethesda Christian Church Sermon of the Week

Continuing with the story of Job, Pastor Pat shares with us an important reminder that even when we feel like we’ve had enough - even when we feel overwhelmed and want finality to our seasons of hardship - that God is always with us and that in faith, life and God go hand in hand. Life isn’t meant to be lived in isolation, but with Christ, the hope of glory. Jesus in us, with us, even in the hard times of life.

In his second message of the series, Pastor Pat provides a powerful message about empathy and providing comfort during times of crisis, reminding us to approach every situation with love and humility, never making assumptions, and seeking Him through prayer, fully listening before we respond.

In his opening message of the series, Under Construction, Pastor Pat uses the story of Job to illustrate how our lives are in the hands of God, and that we have a choice on how we react to tragedy, inconvenience, and devastation. God’s hand in forming our lives is ever-present. And, like Job, we should acknowledge Him even in painful circumstances, never fearing the Lord, but honoring Him in every step of the journey.

Pastor Pat returns to the stage with a powerful message about doubting God, reminding us that we should keep the faith, holding onto these three notions when we find ourselves wondering if God will show up and respond to our prayers: 1) God is omnipresent; 2) God is eternal; and 3) God is omnipotent. In other words, there is nothing that is out of reach for God - as his arms span beyond any of our needs, wants, or desires.

Rev. Barry Allen shares with us 4 different qualities of Christ’s love for us in a powerful message on Mother’s Day, reminding us that no matter what season we are in, Jesus is there for us - loving us through every high and low of every day!

Rev. Rob Susan opens the first Sunday in May with an important message about listening to God throughout the seasons in our life, focusing on Him and what His word says.

In his last message of the month, Pastor Pat shares the human condition of worry and how it is a part of our lives, even when we have faith. We learn through scripture how to manage our doubt through the story of Jesus’ disciples up on the mountain in Galilee; and though they worshipped him, some still had doubt. But Jesus never rebuked or abandoned them - rather he drew close to them, commissioned them with the mission, and continued to love them unconditionally.

On this Easter Sunday, Pastor Pat reminds us of the powerful symbol of the cross, the reconciliation with God made for us by Jesus through his death, and victory that Resurrection Sunday provided - that death was turned into life - and that with Jesus, we are provided a new day.

Pastor Pat paints a picture of how Jesus entered Jerusalem for the last time, providing historical detail and perspective, as he delivers his Palm Sunday message, asking us if we are resolute like Jesus, willing to keep the faith of the cross; or are we listening to the Peters in our lives trying to avoid God’s will?
