So too, Jesus visits the home of Mary and Martha. Mary sits at his feet listening to his wisdom. Martha prepares a meal for him. What would you want to do if God visits your home? God surprised us all with His visit to our world. It is our honor and privilege to be able to invite Him to visit us and stay for a while. His living presence is cause for celebration.

Or maybe, despite your best efforts at nurturing the plant, it just would not grow. Our Creator God is absolutely persistent in wanting to nurture life to its fullness. We might experience God’s love like a mother’s caring hug. At other times God sends us out with the confidence that we can share his love in gracious ways. God is consistent and persistent in his love of life.

"Do you not care that we are perishing?" The disciples' question resonates with anyone who has ever wondered if there is anyone who truly, personally cares about the struggles, troubles, and fears of our lives. When we face a stormy time of life, it can seem that no one cares. Today Jesus answers the disciples with great compassion and power. With the wind howling, the boat taking on water, and the disciples afraid for their lives, Jesus speaks. "Peace, be still," He says to the wind and the waves. All of nature must follow His command. The wind ceased. There was a great calm. Today His voice can reach the deepest part of our mind and spirit as we hear Jesus tell us “Peace, be still.”
