Welcome to I Am Munchausen, a podcast made by an individual in remission from Munchausen Syndrome (also known as Factitious Disorder Imposed on Self). Through extensive psychotherapy I have been able to gain awareness of the unmet emotional needs of my unconscious that were driving this behavior and nurture myself, thus ending the need to seek external validation and support. Through telling my story I hope to provide insight into an illness that is still so misunderstood by society and the medical community. I will explore my childhood, the ways in which this disorder manifested itself and the treatment that has helped me. We do heal.
