When they know what's expected of them, they feel more secure and less anxious. It's like having a roadmap for life. So, let's talk about how to set boundaries that are both loving and effective. We recorded a previous episode on the analogy of parents as coaches...and walked through how parenting changes as your kids mature and change. We have also talked a lot about the seasons of parenting...it has come up in several episodes.

As our children walk through those seasons of life, the discipline that we impose serves a different purpose depending on the season of developement... So today we are going to talk about the purpose of discipline for our children and how it changes as they change!

From the time you brought your precious little baby home from the hospital to the day they step out into their own adult life, the Biblical design for parenting is taking a helpless, dependent baby and producing an adult that has discernment, wisdom, and independence.

What is the goal of parenting?
Is it to raise great kids? Is it for your kids to have fun? Is it to train your kids to be respectful and well-adjusted?

Nope...your job as a parent is to train up God-fearing, well adjusted, equipped adults!
