A famous tongue twister!

Remember that "tt" between vowels is pronounced with a "D" sound, not "T". Listen to these examples pronounced slowly:

Botter
Butter
Bitter


Betty Botter bought some butter

But she said the butter’s bitter

If I put it in my batter, it will make my batter bitter

But a bit of better butter will make my batter better

So ‘twas better Betty Botter bought a bit of better butter

Unrelated except insofar as it's an amazing example of speaking English at high speed, here is the Major General's Song from the light opera, the Pirates of Penzance on youtube. Don't try to understand it--it's mostly nonsense.
