What happens when your child realizes… Mom is wrong?
If you homeschool long enough, it’s going to happen. You’ll get the answer wrong, misuse a word, forget a grammar rule, or discover that something you’ve believed for years simply isn’t true. And your kids will probably be delighted to point it out. But those moments can become some of the most valuable lessons we teach.
In this podcast, I talk about why I believe our children need to see us learning, receiving correction, and apologizing. Homeschooling gives us a unique opportunity to model what it looks like to be wrong without being ashamed, to take good instruction without letting hurtful words define us, and to keep learning no matter how old we are.
You don’t have to know everything before you homeschool your children. Sometimes the lesson you’re learning alongside them is more important than the one in the textbook. Come on in. Let’s chat.

One of the greatest gifts of homeschooling is flexibility—but that doesn’t mean living without structure.
In this video, I’m sharing how homeschooling can give families room to travel, navigate military moves, handle unexpected appointments, respond to difficult days, and shape learning around what their children actually need.
Sometimes flexibility looks like studying history at a historic site or discovering science in a national park. Other times, it means reviewing a little math, reading together, and heading outside because everyone needs a reset.
A flexible day isn’t necessarily a failed school day. Sometimes it’s exactly the day your family needs. Homeschooling allows the structure to serve your family instead of your family becoming a servant to the structure—and that may be one of its greatest gifts.
What would your ideal flexible school day look like? Tell me in the comments. I’d love to hear from you!

Homeschooling can feel overwhelming when you’re just getting started. There’s curriculum to choose, schedules to make, subjects to cover—and that nagging fear that somehow you’re going to mess it all up.
But looking back, there’s one thing I wish I could tell my younger homeschooling self: Relax.
In this video, I share some of the things I wish I had understood when we first started homeschooling—things that would have helped me worry less, enjoy my children more, and realize that a good education doesn’t have to look like a traditional classroom.
You don’t have to have everything figured out before you begin. Your children don’t all have to learn the same way or at the same pace. And some of the best parts of homeschooling happen when you give yourself permission to adjust, learn, and grow right alongside them.
If you’re new to homeschooling—or just feeling like you might not be doing enough—come on in. Let’s chat.

My student is 10. Does that make him a 10th grader? It's a silly question, but it gets at something real: homeschool parents don't have to follow conventional grade levels at all. The better question is where your child actually needs to start.
In this episode, I share what I've learned from both the public school classroom and our kitchen table about placement tests, filling gaps in learning, and meeting your child right where they are. I talk about how I use IXL's diagnostic in my classroom, why gaps aren't failures but opportunities, and why no program should replace you as your child's teacher.
What grade-level question has been tripping you up? Tell me in the comments!

Have you ever wondered whether homeschooling could work for your family? In this first video, I introduce myself: I'm a certified teacher who homeschooled our kids through high school, and our family has also experienced public and private Christian school. I share the story of helping a friend from church think through homeschooling her six-year-old son, and the questions every parent asks when they're just starting to consider it.
What's your biggest question or fear about homeschooling? Leave it in the comments. I'd love to help!
