$87 Billion is earmarked for "tax revenue loss recovery efforts" by Senate Democrats. The bill also has restrictions of fixing "fair" medical prices. The government is also setting restrictions on prescription drugs; fixing prices and limiting contracts so that only select companies will be able to manufacture/sell, and cap insulin prices (but only for ppl on Medicare/Medicaid). Democrats pass a MASSIVE spending bill in the Senate with Kamala Harris as the tie-breaker vote. It's got so much jammed into it that we need multiple segments to cover it all. Join Ryan as we unpack whats in this bill and what exactly it will do. This episode covers Sections 1 & 2: the tax reforms and tax increases Democrats need to fund the rest of this 755 page bill. These sections of the bill address raised taxes on corporations, raised taxes on individuals (not just the ultra wealthy), and adjusted taxes on stock exchange. Boldly going where several podcasts have gone before, we discuss the privatization vs public exploration of space. Throughout history most government missions have focused on exploration, research, and technological advancement rather than resource gain. Exploration missions and R&D missions can take decades to pay off if they ever do. In this sense space efforts for private companies have been lacking in the past, but now three major industries drive private efforts. Satellites, Tourism, and Mining.
