  • Ep. #202: May 29-June 4, 1986 with John McAdam
Kris & David are joined by John McAdam (Stick to Wrestling) to discuss the week that was May 29 - June 4, 1986, a Patreon-requested show. We talk about Kerry Von Erich's life changing motorcycle accident and how it affected World Class as a promotion at the worst possible time for them. We also look at the talent turnover they had thanks to so many wrestlers leaving for the UWF. Speaking of which, we then go to the UWF and talk about Terry Gordy being crowned the 1st UWF Champion, and most importantly, Bill Watts being buried by under the Russian flag in one of the greatest TV wrestling moments ever. We also talk about Roddy Piper filming Body Slam, Gene Okerlund taking over as host of TNT, Jos LeDuc cutting Paul Diamond's hair, Jerry Blackwell being red flagged medically by state athletic commissions, Nikita Koloff & Magnum T.A.'s press conference, the debut of Big Bubba Rogers, and tons more. A tremendous show here, and John was awesome as always, so listen now!!!!!!!!!

  • [Patreon Preview] In which Bob Ryder trolls Wade Keller on ECW's behalf
In this free preview of the latest Between The Sheets Patreon special, covering ECW’s road to securing a pay-per-view contract in early 1997, Kris, David, and guest John Philapavage take a look at some of the internet fallout from the initial PPV date being cancelled. ECW house organ Bob Ryder and his friends decided to blame it all on Wade Keller and Bruce Mitchell of the Pro Wrestling Torch, and all hell broke loose.
For the full show, go to Patreon.com/BetweenTheSheets and become a patron for just $5/month.

    Full show description:
Our friend and “Barbed Wire City” director John Philapavage (@JohnPhilapavage) joins us for an all-inclusive look at ECW’s issues securing a deal to get on pay-per-view. Everything is looking good until New Jack takes a scalpel to the head of barely trained teenager Erik “Mass Transit” Kulas at a spot show, and from there, everyone goes insane. Paul Heyman tries and fails to spin the situation in numerous directions, the ECW house organs try to blame Wade Keller and Bruce Mitchell for the promotion losing their PPV date, and much more takes place over a brief period of time, and there’s a LOT to talk about. Did ECW ever really have a live special booked to air on Network One? How much jeopardy was the PPV deal ever really in? Why exactly did anyone think the Torch crew did anything wrong? What is rumor vs. fact about the Kulas incident? And much, much more. John adds a ton of insight to the latest of our many Eddie Gilbert and/or Paul Heyman-centric shows, and this is one of the best things we’ve ever done. Enjoy!
