Between 2 Wheels Podcast: Cycling News, Commentary, and Analysis from NorCal; Host Tyler Janke, Curt Mills and Chris Flower; CyclingNews.
This isn't the Chico Stage Race, it's the 2018 Amgen Tour of California so we had to pick up our media credentials. We start out our media gig with a visit to Elk Grove CA for Stage 1 of the Women's 3 day edition and also the finish of the Men's Stage 5. We discuss the royalty of being in the media and the access it affords. We break down the first 4 stages of the ATOC, the predictions for today's event and walk you through the day's racing as we encounter it. We also ask the big questions like - why is she amassing QOM's in Grass Valley???
Best of all, we talk to the Women's winner on the day, Kendall Ryan of Team Tibco-Silicon Valley Bank. Kendall breaks down the days racing and how her team got her in position well before the finish. Kendall was a well deserved winner and one that didn't want the moment to end. We also talk to Kendall's team manager Ed Beamon who has been in the cycling manager business since the mid 1990's. He famously held the position for the Navagator's team and discusses his latest venture with the women's side of the sport.

It's been 30 years since USA rider Andy Hamsten won the 1988 Giro d'Italia in one of the most heroic and famous editions to date. If the 2018 edition is half as good, it should be fantastic.
The first Grand Tour of 2018 is upon us and we take a deep dive into the route by breaking down each stage, who will contend for the overall and the sprints. Which stages favor what type of riders will anyone survive the 3rd week of the race. We don't take a dump on Froome as we leave that for Tommy D. Did you know we have gravel in this years race? Take a listen to find out.

The Rio Strada Racing Team from Sacramento is a big cycling club in the area and they are in their 15th year of presenting a two day race. We sat down with Derek Novaes to discuss the event and all the festivities that goes along with putting on a race. The Golden State Race Series p/b Rio Strada Racing (also known as GSRS) is a great event just outside of Sacramento with some unique events like the team time trial, sprinters and overall winners jersey.
With several races on the calendar being cancelled this year, it's good to see the GSRS continuing on. Listen and then go register for the race.
