Slam storyteller, writer and journalist Ward Rubrecht was the first visiting writer in the Farm by the Lake's Storytelling Series which began yesterday and will continue until late March. Ward spoke on the morning show last week about slam poetry and elements of a good story. He even gave some editing tips. Click on the link for the interview. Program 53: Impact of the Depression on the Paper Industry A radio series produced by historian Don Boese. Don is the author of eight books dealing with local history in Itasca County, including "John C. Greenway and the Opening of the Western Mesabi", and the main source for this series, "Papermakers: the Blandin Paper Company and Grand Rapids, Minnesota". The series begins with the arrival of the first Euro-Americans to the forested wilderness of Itasca County in the 1870s. In those early days

The 2nd Friday of the month is "On the House" a new program with Jesse Davis to look at issues surrounding our homes - whether it's energy sources, buying or selling, or this week tips on staging a home.

Islamic Resource Group (IRG) is doing talks in northern MN about the Muslim experience. They will be in Brainerd this Saturday January 13th at 6pm at Central Lakes College with a talk called "Islam and Muslims: Beyond Stereotypes". John Emery from IRG was back on the air with us this morning to tell us more. IRG is available to speak to your school, civic or faith community groups.
