Grouse Hunting season started and Meadow Kouffeld was in to tell us about it as well as the National Hunt in Grand Rapids and how to get younger people into hunting. Each Friday morning Marshall Helmberger tells us some of the stories his newspaper, the Timberjay , has been covering. The lead story this week is about a man from Nett Lake who found his grandfather's manuscript and published it. It's called "Savage Ancestors" and was probably written in the 1930s. Marshall also tells us about the Governor Mark Dayton's trip to Ely to talk water quality.

At the end of the last MN Legislative session Governor Mark Dayton did something no governor has done before. Many before him have vetoed bills, line-item vetoed elements of omnibus bills....but none have vetoed the budget of the Legislature in general. It's caused quite a stir that can be difficult to understand, that's why we called in Minn Post reporter Briana Bierschbach to help us make heads or tails of it.

This Saturday evening, Grand Rapids-based and world-renowned artist Brian Jarvi will unveil his latest work, a 32 foot long arc that includes more than 200 African animal species and a single man. The public is invited to attend the event that begins at 6pm with hors d'voeures followed by a presentation, a film and ultimately the unveiling of the masterpiece.
