  • Ep 40 // Ouija's Dark Origins

There is no question that the Ouija Board has a mysterious and somber backstory. The talking board was a by-product of the Spiritualism movement. This was a time when several families were experiencing the loss of their loved ones from the aftermath of the Civil War and they were desperate to find a way to communicate with them. Due to the pandemic this tale is all too familiar, we all know firsthand that businesses love to monopolize on people’s heartbreaks. Did the spirits curse the creators' families with a lifelong feud and something much worse? Or was it all due to unfortunate events? More surprising to Amy is that this infamous game does have scientific proof that it works but probably not in the way you would expect.

  • Ep 39 // The Sleepwalker Killer and the Dream Doc for Divorcees

Amy’s not the Sleepwalk Killer, but she sure has some funny sleepwalking and sleep-talking stories scaring the bejesus out of her sister and roommates back in the day. Her story, though, is far more of a nightmare in waking life as she covers Albert Tirelle, AKA The Sleepwalker Killer. Not only was this douche a serial scumbag who slept around on his wife, but he was a serial sleepwalker who brutally murdered his second wife while sleepwalking. Listen to Amy’s story to see if his sleepwalking defense held up in court even in the 1800s. Krista makes up for our International Women’s Day episode featuring horrible women, with a Dreams Doctor rightfully dubbed “The Queen of Dreams,” Doctor Rosalind Cartwright. “Dr. Roz,” as her patients and colleagues also lovingly came to call her, now also holds a special place in Krista’s heart as she studied sleeplessness and anxiety dreams among fellow divorced women.

  • Ep 37 // Dreams, Do They Mean Anything or Predict the Future?

Amy and Krista never read Word Up! Magazine, but it would be one badass dream if the Bewitches rode in limos with Salt-N-Pepa, the real bad B’s here. Snapping out of that cloud, Krista takes us through the science of dreams which have captivated humans for as long as we’ve been on this planet. So, why do we dream at all? Do our dreams actually mean anything and can they predict the future? What about bad nightmares and sleepwalking? Ancient Egyptians and Greeks thought dreams were signs from the Gods, while Freud and Carl Jung believed dreams were unresolved thoughts or fears from our subconscious. Today’s science community has not landed on one consensus for why we dream and what dreams are made of, but modern theories have largely abandoned Freudian Dream Theory for theories more rooted in brain cognition and physiology. Sweet dreams.

  • Ep 36 // Tiger King and Psychic Kids Mediums Didn’t See It Comin’

Once upon a time, Krista’s Friday nights consisted of binging Travel Channel’s Ghost Adventures and A&E’s Psychic Kids shows. While she is still not-so-lowkey into Zach Bagans, the Bewitches Psychic Detectives episode showed Krista that Chip Coffey of Psychic Kids didn’t help gifted children after all. What a letdown. He also happens to look and sound like Mr. Garrison from South Park. Meanwhile Amy, almost turns a believer corner with Troy Griffen, a psychic detective who openly shares he won’t help clients find love or talk to their dead relatives from the get-go. Troy became infamous when he starred on Tiger King 2 to help Don Lewis's family investigate what happened to him and to answer the biggest question if Carol Baskins did it. He only claims to help clients and some law enforcement to find those answers. So, has he actually helped solve missing persons and murder cases? Listen to find out. Also, Happy Saint Patrick’s Day!
