The woman caught in adultery didn't get caught alone. The law required both the man and the woman to face judgment, so why was she the only one drug before Jesus? The answer exposes her accusers. And the only One with the right to condemn her refused to.
If you've carried the public story of your divorce by yourself, this episode is for you. In John 7:53–8:11, the crowd came with a verdict already decided. Jesus overruled it, and not one of her accusers threw a stone. But after a divorce, it's easy to keep holding the stones we've picked up, and to throw them at our ex and ourselves.
In this episode:
Whether the story people heard about you wasn't true, or your story is harder to say out loud, you are not the exception in this episode. You are not the story someone else told about you. You are His, and you are forgiven.

For twelve years, one woman lived under a label she couldn't escape: unclean. No touch. No temple. No community — and by law, anyone who touched her became unclean too. So when she reaches through a packed crowd just to touch the hem of Jesus's robe, she's not just breaking a social rule. She's risking exposure, public rebuke, and implicating everyone she brushes against to get there.
In this episode, we walk through what she actually risked, what "daughter" — thygatēr in the Greek — meant coming from Jesus in that specific moment, and the Old Testament thread hiding in the word for the "hem" she reached for: the same word used for Ruth's covering, the tassels commanded in Numbers, and the "healing in his wings" promised in Malachi.
If you've ever wondered whether you still belong in the room — in your church, in your own story, in your relationship with God — this episode is for you.

There's a woman in Luke 10 who does everything right — and Jesus tells her the thing she's avoiding is the thing she actually needs. It's nearly four years since my own divorce, and God is still teaching me that same lesson, in places I didn't expect.
There's a woman in Luke 10 who does everything a good host, a good servant, a good woman "should" do — and Jesus tells her the very thing she's avoiding is the one thing that would actually heal her.
In this episode, I take you into a house of my own — one without a single bed set up in it yet — and into a kitchen in Bethany, where a woman named Martha heard something she wasn't expecting either. We look at both scenes of Mary's story (Luke 10:38–42 and John 12:1–8), what it means that Christ commended the unconventional choice and corrected the conventional one, and what the Hebrew words behind "wait on the Lord" actually mean — not passivity, but the refusal to seize control.
If you're a high-capacity woman who can't sit still without feeling guilty, who has mistaken busy-ness for strength, or who's been using motion to avoid the one thing God is actually inviting you into — this episode is for you.
I also share more of my own ongoing lesson in this — including what perimenopause has had to teach me about strength that has nothing to do with pushing harder.
If you're a high-capacity woman who can't sit still without feeling guilty, who has mistaken busy-ness for strength — this episode is for you.

Rahab is introduced in Scripture by the worst label her culture could give a woman — and that word never goes away. Not in Joshua. Not in Hebrews. Not in James. But a few generations later, that same woman is written into the family line of Jesus, and called faithful in the same breath Scripture still calls her "the prostitute."
In this episode, I walk through three moments in Rahab's story — the spies she hid and lied for, the scarlet cord tied in her window, and the family tree she ended up in generations later — because her story answers a question a lot of divorced women carry quietly: does what happened to you become who you are?
If you've ever felt like a label — from your marriage, your church, or your own self-judgment — got to decide who you're allowed to be next, this episode is for you.

I always assumed the beloved wife is the one God favors. Genesis says otherwise.
Rachel had her husband's devotion. Leah had God's attention. And it's Leah's line — not Rachel's — that carries the Messiah forward.
In this episode, we walk through Genesis 29–31 and 35: the wedding-night deception nobody saw coming, the sister nobody chose, and the rivalry that followed between two women wounded in completely different directions. We look at what Scripture actually says about Leah's eyes and Rachel's beauty, why the Bible narrates polygamy without ever endorsing it, and why God chose to carry the entire future of Israel — kings and priests alike — through the wife nobody wanted.
If you've ever felt like you were on the outside of where love was landing, unchosen, unseen, or like your worth depended on someone else's choice — this episode is for you.

You have probably felt left to fend for yourself at some point in your marriage or your divorce — exposed, discarded, uncovered by someone who was supposed to protect you. That wound is real, and it is ancient. In Genesis 38, a widow named Tamar lived that exact abandonment, denied a husband, an heir, a future, and covering by the one man responsible for her. Judah assumed the worst about her. God did not.
In this episode, I walk through Tamar's full story — what she actually did once she realized the promise made to her would never be kept, what Judah admitted about her when the truth finally surfaced, and why God wrote her directly into the lineage of Jesus. This is a study in what it means that God's presence isn't always loud, but it is never absent.
Scripture referenced:
Genesis 38 — Tamar's complete narrative
Genesis 37:31–33 — haker-na / recognition
Genesis 39 — immediate literary context
Genesis 44:18–34 — transformed Judah
Genesis 49:8–10 — Judah and the royal line
Deuteronomy 25:5–10 — later codification of levirate obligation
Ruth 4:9–12 — Tamar explicitly remembered
Ruth 4:18–22 — Perez to David
1 Chronicles 2:3–15 — Judah/Perez/David genealogy
Matthew 1:1–6 — Tamar deliberately named in Christ's genealogy
Luke 3:23–33 — Perez in Jesus' genealogy

After my divorce, I learned I was fluent in giving and illiterate in receiving. It's taken four ordinary years — and three places in Scripture — to teach me the difference between performing love and actually receiving it. This episode is that story.
Beyond Believing was just named one of FeedSpot's Top 14 Christian Divorce Podcasts — thank you for being part of why this show is reaching more women than ever. https://podcast.feedspot.com/christian_divorce_podcasts/
For most of my life, the kitchen was where I knew exactly who I was — cooking, feeding the people I loved, being the one everyone could rely on. After my divorce, that same kitchen went quiet, and I had to face something I didn't expect: I knew how to perform every role I had. What I didn't know was how to receive.
In this episode, I'm walking you through the quiet, four-year lesson God has been teaching me since my divorce — through three places in Scripture (Isaiah 54, Ephesians 3, and Psalm 68) and through the two pieces of evidence in my own life that show me how far that lesson has actually taken me: nearly a full year of true singleness, and finishing my Bachelor's degree.
If you've ever found yourself still reaching for someone to prove you're worth staying for — or you've decided the opposite, that being known isn't safe, so you just keep giving instead — this episode is for both of you. The answer is the same: learning to receive from God first.
SCRIPTURE REFERENCED (ESV)
- Isaiah 54:4–8 — "Your Maker is your husband"
- Ephesians 3:16–21 — rooted and grounded in love, power to grasp it
- Psalm 68:5–6 — Father to the fatherless, defender of widows, who sets the lonely in families
- Philippians 1:6 — "he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion"

A few days ago I was on a walk, listening to Judges 16, and I couldn't believe how obviously foolish Samson was being — three times warned, three times he handed Delilah more of himself anyway. Then a second thought stopped me cold: how obvious is it to the people who love me, when I'm doing the exact same thing?
This episode is the answer to that question. It's the story of a walk that turned into a confession, a chapter in Judges I'd read past a hundred times, and a framework tucked inside Psalm 37 that I'd never actually followed all the way through — trust, delight, commit, be still, wait patiently, surrender the anxiety, and only then, abundant peace.
Samson skipped straight to the desire of his heart and left out everything that was supposed to come first. I did the same thing for seventeen years of marriage, dressed up in wisdom that looked biblical and wasn't.

I had the intact home. The husband. Five kids. On paper, nothing was wrong. Everyone on the outside thought we had the ideal home. This week, I'm telling you what was actually happening underneath it — and about a woman in Scripture whose story I read years before my own marriage and never understood until it was already too late to have it going in.
In this episode, we go back to Genesis 24 — the marriage the Bible describes in more detail than almost any other — and I show you exactly who Rebekah was, what the servant was actually testing for at the well, and why her answer to her family's question ("will you go?") mattered as much as anything else in the story.
Then I connect it to my own foundation: growing up in a home shaped by my parents' divorce, the vow I made to give my own kids something different, and how I ended up building the exact thing I swore I'd never repeat — not because I didn't love my family, but because I didn't yet have the character Rebekah already had, long before anyone was testing her for it.
If you're a divorced Christian woman rebuilding a home, a faith, or an identity from the ground up — this episode is for you.

God once commanded a prophet to marry a woman known for infidelity — not after she cleaned up her life, but in the middle of it. This episode is about what that means for you.

God told the prophet Hosea to marry a woman who kept running back to other men. Not once — repeatedly. For centuries, that story has been read as being about her sin. It isn't. It's about how far God will go to buy back what He already calls His own.
This episode opens a new thread on Beyond Believing: women in Scripture who carried a reputation nobody expected God to redeem. Outcast. Adulteress. Foreigner. The unloved wife. We're starting with Gomer — and with the question so many divorced women carry quietly into church every week: does remarriage after divorce make me an adulteress?
Katie Anne walks through Hosea 1–3 in full, alongside Mark 10, Malachi 2, and Romans 7 — not as a debate, but as a chance to actually hear these passages in the context they were written from.
