The clip you're going to hear today was taken from a webinar where I had just referenced an analogy that I often use to describe how a data driven strategy works. I'm going to quickly give a recap of that analogy so that you have context going into this clip. Keep in mind that what we're concerned with here is figuring out exactly what we need to be looking at during a poker hand. What is actually going to be the most important thing for making the decision we need to make in any given moment? Okay. When you see a constellation of stars like Orion or the Big Dipper, the way that your brain detects that constellation is by noticing the brightest stars first. Those are the stars that form the pattern. And that pattern is what lets you know that you're looking at Orion and not the Big Dipper. From there, your mind can connect the dots, and suddenly the full shape of the constellation becomes visible in a very similar way. That's how the data driven strategy works. It trains you to detect the brightest data points or stars in the hand so that you can see the pattern, connect the dots, and make the best play. I'm going to use that analogy as this clip gets started. So now you have context over it. I hope you guys enjoy the inner workings of how data-driven strategies are created.
What's up, guys? This clip is taken from a live webinar where I started sharing some graphs from some of the biggest winners all time on our privately contracted side. If you'd like to see those graphs while you listen, you can head over to the YouTube channel. Just search for the same title. This episode will be there. Enjoy.
What's up, guys? In this episode, I'm going to show you how to view your poker career as if it were a legitimate startup business. You can choose your strategy through what's called a risk-adjusted lens. And if you do that, it will allow you to optimize for a 100 x or even 1000 x outside return. This is a framework that's going to give you way more confidence as a professional moving forward. Check it out. I hope it makes life a lot easier for you.
This clip was taken from inside the 30-Day Training Camp. At the time, the players were asking me to go into more depth on how to effectively use an RNG during a poker session. The tips I give here are taken from various levels of my own experience working with players from small stakes up to nosebleeds. The players at nosebleeds present with the most similar cases of RNG paralysis, I would call it. You would think that once a guy gets nosebleeds he's not dealing with that anymore. But it is the only thing these guys want to talk about in consults, believe it or not. So what does that look like for a Nosebleed player? Just to give you some context, they will get to a point in a hand where they roll an aggression number and it's authorizing them to make an aggressive action. They need to invest in the pot. They need to put a lot of money into the pot. And in the 2 seconds that their eyes scan from the RNG on one side of the screen back to the board that they need to make the play on, they have a risk-averse narrative start to creep in and they rationalize against the role number. This is what we work on at the highest level of mindset. I call it an immobilization response, which is a term that comes from a more trauma-informed framework. It basically paralyzes you from being able to take the action that you know you should take. So I do not take this subject lightly. And the reason is because I see it presenting at every single next level that a player climbs stakes until they resolve it completely and who knows if it ever gets totally resolved. I think we're always going to have to deal with the stress response. But understanding what's happening I think is really the first level of getting beyond it. So in this episode, I will try to break it down for you. The different levels of dealing with RNG paralysis and how to overcome it.
This is a discussion with a poker player who really wanted to correct mistakes, but it was clear he didn't have a framework for how to do that. I'm not talking about a strategic framework. I'm talking about a mindset framework for how to motivate himself through that process. In this clip, you'll hear me demonstrate a psychotherapy model called internal family Systems ifs also known as parts therapy. It's a model that works very well for people who have never really had a way to connect to emotions. It actually teaches you to view yourself as having different parts operating inside of you. Not all of those parts are in alignment, and by connecting to them through this dialogue, you actually start to find ways to open new doors and integrate the types of imbalances that are creating these mistakes. Check this out. I hope it resonates with you. If you're someone who's really looking for new frameworks for how to work through mistakes, this is the key skill set that allows you to make the shift from a fixed to growth mindset.
