Welcome to Beyond Poker, where we talk about the strategies of the best professional poker players in the world...
I'm Nick Howard and I'm the CEO of Poker Detox, a training project that's produced high-stakes crushers in every major online pool.
As a young poker pro in my 20s, I couldn't find the direction I needed, and I always felt like I would have loved to be a part of an elite team.
So I brought that vision to life in my 30s for others to enjoy... and now Poker Detox provides players with a guaranteed path to high stakes n unlimited 1-on-1 support. I hope this content supports you on your journey, please share and enjoy
This clip gives a behind-the-scenes look into what the training phase looks like for a micros or small-stakes player who's recruited to play for our private team. There are two things about the way that our private training format works that I think are fundamentally different. The first is that no matter how bad you run, it doesn't matter we give you a stake either way, as long as you're hitting your targets. We can use the database technology to go in and see if this player playing by our line metrics protocols. And as long as they're reasonably close, they get staked immediately for 200NL. Now, the benefit of that is it gets you out of the rake trap as fast as possible, and playing for meaningful stakes luck can't stop you in that way. The second thing that we do, which is sort of unique, is we pulled from different print principles, and different disciplines, and found a way to get our players fighting for more Pots as fast as possible by exaggerating the types of aggression. This clip will explain why we do it in that way. We want players to make as much money as possible on the come-up, and we want them to be as evolved and prepared as possible once they get to high stakes. Check it out!
I've mentioned before that one of my favorite things about working with public players who join the Detox 30 day training camp is that we really get to repair the frameworks that they've picked up from mainstream and probably distorted to some degree. Whether it was because it was delivered to them in a distorted way or they were only able to partially understand it it so they ended up warping that concept. This is an episode where you're going to hear a really good example of that. Using this concept of pot growth vulnerability of the Hand, we get to look at how the player perceives the utility of that concept, and then we get to expose how it's not actually allowing him to think clearly during the Hand. That's really why it's important to rewire your frameworks. You need to be able to follow the incentive of the Hand, and if your framework doesn't allow you to do that, then your framework is broken. Check out how it works. I'll see you on the other side.
In this episode, I tell a story that I've never publicly told before. The audio on this is a bit wonky because I scraped it from a private consult, but I wanted to include it. I think it's relatable in a lot of aspects to people who have a fear of going broke. Here's what happened to me and how it informed my perspectives in my twenties. I also give you the framework for how I broke out of it and my thirty s. And I hope it helps you address whatever doubts you have in this area of your life. Much love and enjoy.
What you're about to listen to in this episode is the tail end of a conversation with a 30-day training camp member who came in from a different methodology on the public side. And he was concerned with just examining what we had on our end compared to what he had been using for the last ten years. The reason I love this camp is that I get to continuously talk to people from all walks of the industry, and I stay very connected to the narratives and the struggles that these types of players are going through. So what came of this was the first real take on what makes Poker Detox different from the other methods out there. And I owe it to this player for really pushing me to the limit of defining whether is it about what the right or the best strategy is, or is it something more elegant than that? About maybe what is right for you and your particular goals. And so that's what we start to unpack in this audio. It changed the entire messaging of our company after this conversation because, for the first time, I saw it isn't about the best way or the right way. It's about what are you looking for as a player at this stage. And when you frame it that way, it becomes clear that there is Detox and the handful of coaches that are leveraging data-driven strategies, and then there's just everything else. I hope this one brings you some clarity and helps you pick the right path for where you're personally at your stage in the journey.
The clip that you're about to hear came from inside the 30-day training camp, one of the weekly mindset calls. I decided to include it here because I think it does a really nice job of displaying the overwhelm that a small-stakes player often feels when they're trying to visualize the path to high stakes. There is a specific mindset constraint that you'll hear in this recording. You need to become aware of it if you want to get to high stakes. Check it out. I hope it helps you on your journey.
This is a two-part episode that covers a wide range of topics. That's why I've split it up. It came from a discussion in our alumni channels. That's a discord community where all of the members from our 30-day training camp end up going after their camp is complete. Then I host another monthly free call forever after. So check out these clips. I thought it was a really fun call. I'll catch you on the other side. If you're interested in getting access to the alumni channels or just want to check out more info on our private A program, head over to Pokerdetox.com. Follow the prompts. Even if you're not interested, I'd suggest going there and just soaking up all the free content along the way. Again, that's pokerdetox.com. The strategy upgrades are free. Enjoy.

Just want to start off by saying thanks to those of you who have been asking me to create a behind-the-scenes episode on what happens in our 30-day training camp. I've done just that. This is a compilation of all the best clips from our last camp welcome call. This was the first call of this camp. It's meant to just be like a hey, hello. What's up? How are your type of thing? Oftentimes it turns into high level strategy discussion right off the bats, so I was impressed with this group. Check it out. I'll see you on the other side. If you're interested in learning more about this camp, head over to Pokerdetox.com. Follow the prompts. You'll find a lot more sneak peek footage. Free strategy upgrades from this camp. Again, pokerdetox.com, it's all free. Enjoy.
What you're about to hear in this episode is one of the most real talks I've ever had with a player who struggled with a lot of health issues during his private contract with us. This is a guy who I really admire, and I've been tracking his process for a couple of years. As he had to take time off and come back. Just hoping that his luck would turn. I decided to release it to the pod in the hopes that if there are some of you out there who are dealing with insurmountable challenges in real life and trying to balance poker at the same time, maybe the perspective I share in this video will help you find some relief along the way.
