  • Ep. 29 - Postive Rights and Negative Rights
This one is a true battle. We end up tackling the positive rights vs negative rights debate from several angles, all of which Matt and Matt disagree. This is two hours of relatively substantive disagreements where we each try to make our case for the type of rights we lean towards.

  • Ep. 28 - Noam Chomsky, Anarchism, and Legitimate Hierarchies
Buckle up, this one gets pretty tense. We use Chomsky's definition of anarchism to springboard into a debate that encompasses a lot of the stereotypical anarcho-capitalism vs left wing-anarchism tropes. We mostly focus on what hierarchies are legitimate and why. We do devolve into a rather intense debate down the stretch, but it's probably more entertaining than not. Another attempt at a tough conversation that pits our a priori structures against each other.

  • Ep. 27 - The Decline of YouTube
In this episode, we talk about the state of YouTube as a media platform, how it's evolved over time, why it's changed, and where we would like to see it go. A fun episode on a lighter topic then normal.

  • Ep. 26 - The Kamala Harris Episode
In this one, we talk about Kamala Harris being announced as Joe Biden's running mate. We give our impressions of her, her history in government, how we think she would legislate, and if these things even matter. We thought this would be a two topic episode, but we chased a lot of rabbits down rabbit holes because why not? Enjoy.

  • Ep. 25 - The Green New Deal
In our longest episode yet, we have a back and forth about the Green New Deal and environmental policy. We also touch on income inequality and how that relates to the Green New Deal. There is a LOT in this one.

  • Ep. 24 - Collectivism and Individualism
Matt and Matthew discuss their evaluations of collectivism and individualism. In classic BYT fashion, we both kind of miss the point for half an hour before the ball gets rolling and we really argue with each other beyond defining words. We challenge each other quite a bit and it is a somewhat fruitful conversation compared to typical political conversations.

  • Ep. 23 - A Stateless Democracy
In this episode, Matt asks Matthew clarifying questions about his conception of a "Stateless Democracy" and how it might work, what could be some pitfalls, and why it could work. This is a very "thinking out loud" type of conversation and Matt admittedly puts Matthew on the spot with some somewhat rigorous questions.

  • Ep. 22 - The Social Contract
In this episode, Matt and Matthew discuss the idea of a social contract and the consent of the governed. We tackle some of the more common arguments and make some nuanced points. Matt definitely goes on a rant in this one. This also sets up the next episode that will be about Matthew's idea of a "stateless democracy", since it gets brought up about an hour into our conversation.

  • Ep. 21 - Discussing the Captalism vs. Socialism Debate
In this episode, Matt and Matthew react to the Richard Wolff/Gene Epstein debate (from the Soho Forum) on Capitalism versus Socialism. We talk a lot about democratizing businesses and many other topics. We even track back to the authoritarianism debate from last week. A lot of arguing, but also a lot of reasonable discussion.

  • Ep. 20 - Right Wing Populism vs. Left Wing Populism
True to form, Matt and Matthew have a civilized discussion about differences in populist views before devolving into an argument about what constitute an authoritarian state. With that said, we like to think the back and forth is entertaining even when we seem to hit road blocks. There's a lot in this one, enjoy!
