Hello, I am Christopher Wilson, aka Chrissao on Twitter and BlueSky. I also run Elimination Charts, also on Twitter and BlueSky. Today, I am excited to announce that I am the newest member of Beyondthe90. This will be a little introduction to me, to Talkin’ USL2 Ya, and go over a little bit and what this will be, why I started it, and some goals for the season. I hope you join me in diving into the 2025 season of USL League 2!
The 2026 FIFA World Cup continues to mix with politics and now at the Miami venue is requiring more taxpayers subsidies- potentially at the risk of government services locally.
The Miami Herald reported Thursday on Mayor Daniella Levine Cava (D-Miami-Dade) and her desire to hand $10.5 more of government money to the local World Cup effort.
This is the first video we are making on the subject, but we are following up with more reporting of our own and should have much more information about this entire situation in the coming weeks.
Fort Lauderdale Men’s Team News
* League 1 or First Division?
* Can it work (the dichotomy between Louisville City and Lexington)
* Is this a message to Miami FC to get their house in order or be left behind?
* Age old debate: Is Fort Lauderdale or Miami the better location for a top division club in South Florida?
* Can USL create multiple club derbies in major markets and ditch territorial rights?
Detroit Free Press reporting Detroit City has approval, and will receive reimbursement for removing hospital on stadium site. Scheduled for August. 5.9 million for 21 years.
Roster Moves we discuss:
* Detroit City signs Sebastian Guenzatti (Former Cosmos/Rowdies/Indy Eleven)
* At 33, can he be the piece that gets Detroit City goals? Came on for the final 26 minutes against Miami FC.
* Loudoun United signs Ben Mines (Orange County, Colorado Springs, Miami, Indy)
* Ben around, great utility player. A good fit and could seamlessly fit into this squad. Already has familiarity with Florian Valot.
* If anyone can maximize his talent it’s Ryan Martin.
* Loudoun United also signs Christian Sorto to 25-day contract.
* Kicking the tires or serious about full season deal? (Ask Kartik about the use cases for these contracts).
* Oakland Roots sign Swiss goalkeeper Raphael Spiegel
* Reserve in England and Portugal. Most recently at Lausanne-Sport.
* Not sure he starts and if he starts how much help he has in front of him.
* Kenardo Forbes retirement prompts Kartik to wax lyrically about his career and impact.

After lots of discussion, BT90 has landed an interview with NPSL Chairman Kenneth Farrell. We believe this is his first major interview since October of 2020 with Protagonist Soccer. However, due to circumstances out of our control, it has been delayed.
In waiting, Calum discusses the questions he put forward that will and will not be answered, along with contemplating the future of the NPSL as a whole.

FIFA has a long-standing policy against government involvement in the sport or politics in the sport, but more and more of late they’re violating their own policies. The White House FIFA World Cup Task Force is the latest trigger.
Here in the United States sports whether it’s Democrats in urban cities building taxpayer-subsidized stadiums for billionaires or the recent Infantino-Trump bromance, sports seems to be getting more political every day.
Why is this a problem. We discuss!
