Today, Owen takes us deep into the Idaho mountains to Ruby Ridge where, in 1992, a standoff between the AFT, FBI, and Randy Weaver and his family ended in tragedy. The governments mishandling of the situation led to American citizens highly scrutinizing and condemning the governments' actions, sending waves of civil unrest across the country. 

The family, the standoff, and the subsequent trial lives on today in the hearts and minds of Americans who watched the event unfold in real time, but awareness of this event has been steadily decreasing in the decades since.

Thought provoking, anger inducing, and slightly terrifying, the events at Ruby Ridge deserve awareness at how miscommunication, mistrust in the goverment, and questionable, violent acts can lead to something tragic.

For episode 3, Landen takes us into the heart of the San Juan Mountains during the gold rush in the Colorado Territoty. A team of prospectors graciously accepted a man named Alferd Packer into their expedition party after he falsely claims to be a wilderness guide. This doomed expedition party departed from Salt Lake City bound for the gold mines of Breckenridge and the San Juan Mountains in the Winter of 1873. From the beginning, their journey was full of back luck, worse weather, and a food supply that decreased by the day. After so long, there weren't many options left.

Hello again!

Since beginning the podcast, we have decided to switch to a biweekly episode release format instead of weekly. Since we do not you guys to feel jipped on content, we have a double header for you today.

Owen takes us back to Appalachia, telling us about the Brown Mountain Lights. The Lights are a phenomena in the sky that have baffled people for generations around the nation.

Landen will be discussing Canada's Nahanni National Park and Preserve, also know as "The Valley of Headless Men." How does one get such an ominous title? We'll find out! The story is of two brothers and their journey into the wilderness of the Nahanni Valley... context clues can tell you what happens next. Or we can! In 1841, a man named Felix Axley uncovered an artifact on his newly purchased land in the foothills of North Carolina's stretch of Appalachian Mountains. Thinking it to be of Cherokee origin, he attempts to return it only to discover that is it not the Cherokee's, but it comes from a people who they say have lived in the mountains for centuries: The Moon-Eyed People.

For our very first episode, we are diving into a bit of folklore from hosts Landen and Owen Chavez's home state of North Carolina. This week, we look into the mystery of the Appalachian Moon-Eyed People, as well as some theories as to where they could be hiding, who they are, and how their existence could rewrite the history of the New World.
