Eren finally overpowers Annie by sheer force of will and, with Mikasa's help, the Female titan is finally defeated. Eren has a weird instinct to eat Annie from the nape, but before he can she's encapsulates her self in a mysterious crystal. Erwin faces the consequences and declares a new offensive for humanity.

A flashback reveals all the evidence that leads Erwin to create a hidden plan to capture Annie, a spy and the Female titan. Knowing she's trapped, Annie takes a gamble and transforms. Eren, unable to transform himself, is crushed in the chaos while Armin, Mikasa and Jean watch plan B, and plan C fail before them. Upon Armin's wise words Eren is finally focused enough to take his Titan powers into season one's final fight.

Erwin and Armin share some juicy theories about who the Female Titan really is. Eren once again chooses to trust his fellow scouts until the Female Titan kills all of them. After he transforms for the ensuing battle Eren's titan is decapitated and his human body eaten up by the Female titan as she flees the scene.

With the female titan captured Erwin and Levi attempt to cut out whoever is inside. Erwin's plan is revealed as a hunt for a traitor in the midst of the scouts. After she screams aloud, the captured female titan is consumed by dumb titans securing her escape. Finally, Erwin concludes that the traitor is now disguised as a scout in middle of their retreat.
