Curious about the many ways we as humans bifurcate one another’s experiences? In this episode, we review different types of boundaries, define and give examples of both formal and informal authority, and talk in depth about self-authorization and the authorization and de-authorization of others. We talk about how our backgrounds impact how we take up our own authority and who we unconsciously give authority to or who we take it away from. We explore the impact of unconscious bias, shadow sides, and the interconnectedness of the human experience. We talk about the roles we take up or that others put onto us and how we can be complicit in other people's negative perceptions and projections unto us even during our best attempts to be seen in our fullness. The overall message being that boundaries, authority, and roles intersect in complex ways but often lead to powerful learning if genuinely explored and worked with.

Valences, Projections, and Projective Identification: We will explore these terms, how they relate to one another, and their impact on us and others. We discuss why we think it is important to know our valences, how and what we project onto others, and what they might be projecting onto us. We will talk about how this relates to our social locations, environments, histories, lineage, and our spiritual identities. We will also dive into the shadow side of knowing and naming valences and projections and how we often weaponize these to consciously and unconsciously keep ourselves and others in boxes. Lastly, we share some of our personal histories and experiences as we work to join around these topics and offerings.
