On the Third Sunday of Advent, commonly known as Gaudete Sunday, Deacon Mike Krall recalled a rough homily he had two years ago while preaching in Spanish.
While this homily was a struggle, the joy of Gaudete Sunday and the rejoicing that is just on the horizon made all the trouble that he experienced, and that we all constantly experience in different forms, worth it in the end.

As part of the Missionary Cooperative Plan, which invites a missionary to preach at a parish for missionary appeals, we were joined by Fr. Osas Onaiwu, a Somascan Father, who joined us for the 33rd Sunday in Ordinary Time to tell us about their mission in Nigeria. Fr. Osas preached about how we must be unafraid of the end times while having a faith that endures hardship, and invited us to join the Somascan Fathers in caring for, and protecting, the youth of Nigeria.

David Hust preached on the 32nd Sunday of Ordinary Time about how we are called by Christ, the Bridegroom, how marriage can reflect the supernatural unity desired for us by God, and how we should shift our focus on four important truths of our faith - heaven, hell, purgatory and death.

On the 29th Sunday in Ordinary Time, Deacon Mike Krall preached about three keys to success for your spiritual life: preparation, persistence, and practice. How do we approach sacred scripture? What is our phone screen time versus our "Bible screen time"? Are we focused on the sacrifice of Mass, or just punching our spiritual ticket for the week?
Listen to Deacon Mike tackle these questions and more in this insightful homily from St. Anthony of Padua.

Every year, our parish is blessed with a seminarian from the Archdiocese of Galveston/Houston who arrives at St. Anthony of Padua to spend one year of formation and prayer on our staff. This year, we welcomed John Clark - a prayerful, joyful and outgoing seminarian from Michigan who went to the University of Texas, had a unique discernment period throughout college, and loves chess, Lord of the Rings, and more. Nate Hoffman sat down with John to get to know more about him, and how his experience has been at St. Anthony of Padua so far. Tune in!
