In this episode, Dr's. Kauffman and Wells discuss the potential adverse affects of early sports specialization in youth athletes.
Dr. Wells has been seeing more youth athletes who have adult types of injuries, who tend to specialize in a sport early in life.
As a whole, we think we need to push ourselves, spend every waking moment in the sport, and repeat. However, this is leading to more overuse injuries in youth athletes and can actually prevent them from playing college ball.

Dr. Wells has a patient that was exhibiting some signs that aren't necessarily ones that we stick with conservative treatment for. While we want rehab, whether chiropractics or physical therapy to be the end all, be all for everyone. Sometimes it isn't.
A BIG takeaway: don't let your healthcare practitioner fit you into a mold or box to have rehab just like everyone else. Go to someone who will individual your rehab to meet YOUR needs.
