After finishing a mural at Curate Church in Mount Maunganui, New Zealand, my dear friend of over 20 years, Pastor Nick Khiroya drove my family and i back to Auckland for our flight home. In this conversation, Nick shares the heart behind Curate Church, his journey over the years, and what it really looks like to faithfully follow Christ. Having known him for more than two decades, it's been incredible to witness the consistency of his character and the way God's work in his life has only continued to grow.It's also amazing how this whole opportunity came about. Basically, Nick gave me a simple catch up call as I was already heading to New Zealand for another project. He said, "we should definitely catch up", i said "do you have a wall for me to paint?" ... That one conversation led to painting this dove mural, spending time with the Curate Church community, speaking at youth, two Sunday services, and their recovery ministry, and sharing in what God is doing through the people there. It became so much more than an art project—it became a reminder of how God also works through simple conversations, open doors, and willing hearts.
