What the Heck is CBD and Can it Solve the Financial Pain of Our Farmers?
By John Frazier, America's Entrepreneur Advocate
By legalizing hemp, the 2018 Farm Bill sets the stage for a national and international trade in CBD that is expected to dwarf the market for THC products. CBD is the straitlaced cousin of marijuana’s more famous component - the THC that makes you high. CBD (Cocannabidiol), has no such intoxicating effects and is derived directly from the hemp plant, which is a cousin of the marijuana plant. Hemp and hemp derived products are legal under the Farm Bill, as long as their THC content is less than 0.3%. Even with all the hype of CBD, it cannot be overstated how beneficial this plant could be for U.S. farmers in the coming years. [more...]

    Dr. Cie Allman-Scott
Cie Scott, Ph.D. is a seasoned television producer who successfully transitioned from the front of the camera to behind the camera. A published author of both text and audio books, Dr. Scott is also the writer of TV commercials, infomercials, episodic and “how to” daytime TV programs, music videos, and thought-provoking short stories. For over 20 years, she has written monthly magazine columns, blogged, and contributed to the books of many experts.
Once specializing in Direct Response advertising, she uses her degree in Psychology to influence and inspire
television viewers. With experience as a powerful teacher, Cie’s career in modeling, acting, and hosting afforded her a unique education, which included improvisation and comedy. She played prankster parts on Totally Hidden Video, Saturday Night Live, and also performed stand-up comedy at The Improv in L. A. Cie understands the value of a
comedic edge and uses humor divinely in hundreds of celebrity interviews for FOX, ABC, CBS, and UPN television.
Feeling creatively incomplete reading lines for recurring roles on General Hospital, Baywatch, and many other episodics, her self expression took over and she created Infinite Power, a daytime TV show which she grew from 3 markets to 186 on major networks. Executive Producing her show afforded her the opportunity to learn most TV production jobs and successfully syndicate her own show. Focused on her tasks, she became an excellent writer; advertising clients were also pleased with her ability to research and execute
meaningful scripts. As a former owner of a production company, she also produced commercials for large, world-wide companies such as LifeFitness, Toto, and Stevia. She has created and produced martial arts videos, exercise videos, as well as TV pilots, such as the Most Beautiful Women in the World, with Tippi Hedron and Gena Lee Nolan.
Dr. Cie Scott now cherry picks TV projects, writes inspiring self-help books and magazine columns, and is a voting member of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.
She is also a member of both SAG, and AFTRA. She currently spends one third of her time lecturing throughout the world and appearing on television as a Media Psychologist. As an actress, TV host and producer, “Dr. Cie” earned 9 Tellys, 2 Vision Awards, and 2 Emmy nominations for production and hosting.

    10 Summer Pool Safety Tips
As you listen to the sound of children laughing and splashing in your backyard pool, a leading expert in pool safety asks you to keep this in mind:
According to the CDC (Centers for Disease Control), drowning is the #1 cause of death for children under five -- and it usually happens without warning and without a sound.
You would never put your baby in a car without a car seat or seat belt, and you would never leave a firearm out where your child is playing. But for many parents, pool safety is seen as an optional luxury, despite the pool being statistically more dangerous than both the gun and cars combined, says swimming pool safety consultant Eric Lupton.
Lupton says that no child is drown proof, and even the best parents have suffered tragedies.
Seventy-seven percent of drownings occur less than five minutes after the child was last seen often in his room, sleeping, says Lufton. The one positive light is that toddler drownings are almost completely preventable when multiple layers of protection are implemented.
These are 10 KEY LAYERS OF PROTECTION FOR POOL SAFETY that Lufton wants every parent to know about: and implement immediately, if not sooner:
Installing a see-through mesh pool fence is the first step in childproofing the most dangerous part of the house, the backyard swimming pool.
Make sure that your pool service treats the fence with respect and completely closes it when they leave,
Keep lawn furniture that can be climbed on away from the pool fence
Install a pool alarm that sounds when something falls into the pool
Install high locks and alarms on doors and windows leading to the pool
Those with above ground pools should put ladders away when adults are not present to prevent children from gaining access to the water.
Teach all children to swim and how-to self-rescue, starting as early as 6 months old
When anyone is swimming, appoint a designated water watcher whose sole responsibility is watching the pool no phone, no socializing, nothing but watching the pool. Water watchers should work in shifts of no longer than 15 minutes. Even trained lifeguards have a hard time mai

Postgate: How the Washington Post Betrayed Deep Throat, Covered Up Watergate, and Began Today's Partisan Advocacy Journalism
    By
    John O'Connor
MEDIA ANALYST/AUTHOR: John O'Connor, Postgate: How the Washington Post Betrayed Deep Throat, Covered Up Watergate, and Began Today's Partisan Advocacy Journalism. He served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in Northern California from 1974-1979, representing the United States in both criminal and civil cases.
We all should now know after the exhaustive Mueller investigation that there was nothing to the much-hyped “Russian collusion” narrative. But did the public need to wait over two years to find that out, wasting megatons of civic energy and poisoning our political processes?
It is now clear that the citizenry could have widely agreed on the truth, if only it had a mainstream media that focused on simple, commonsense factual inquiry, and avoided sensational partisan hysteria.
    How so?

Deep Throat’s lawyer discovers the Washington Post betrayed his client—while covering up the real truth about the Watergate scandal
The conventional wisdom of Watergate is turned on its head by Postgate, revealing that the Post did not uncover Watergate as much as it covered it up. The Nixon Administration, itself involved in a coverup, was the victim of a journalistic smoke-screen that prevented mitigation of its criminal guilt. As a result of the paper’s successful misdirection, today’s strikingly deceptive partisan journalism can be laid at the doorstep of the Washington Post.
After Deep Throat’s lawyer, author John O’Connor, discovered that the Post had betrayed his client while covering up the truth about Watergate, his indefatigable research resulted in Postgate, a profoundly shocking tale of journalistic deceit.
In an era when numerous modern media outlets rail about the guilt of their political enemies for speaking untruths, Postgate proves that the media can often credibly be viewed as the party actually guilty of deception. Americans today mistrust the major media more than ever. Postgate will prove that this distrust is richly deserved.

SOCIALISM SUCKS AUTHOR #1: Robert Lawson, author of Socialism Sucks: Two Economists Drink Their Way Through the Unfree World. Lawson holds the Jerome M. Fullinwider Endowed Centennial Chair in Economic Freedom and is the director of the William J. O'Neil Center for Global Markets and Freedom at the Southern Methodist University (SMU) Cox School of Business.
SOCIALISM SUCKS AUTHOR #2: Benjamin Powell, author of Socialism Sucks: Two Economists Drink Their Way Through the Unfree World. Powell is the director of the Free Market Institute and a professor of economics in the Rawls College of Business Administration at Texas Tech University. He is the author or editor of five books and the author of more than 75 scholarly articles and policy studies.
With the hot-button word “socialism” sparking intense political debate as Americans brace for the 2020 presidential election, two U.S. economists have completed a global drinking tour – and a book already at the top of Amazon's "beer" category – warning that the socialist lure could lead to a drastic dry-up of the country’s adult beverages.
“Socialism Sucks: Two Economists Drink Their Way Through the Unfree World,” by Robert Lawson and Benjamin Powell, is billed as a “worldwide tour guide written in plain English” which takes readers on a not-so-luxurious expedition into three countries that have embraced socialism – North Korea, Venezuela, and Cuba – using beer as an indicator of economic concern.
“In Cuba, there were only two types of beer, almost the same in alcohol content and both tasted like skunky Budweiser. In North Korea, it was just god awful,” Lawson, who is also the director of the William J. O’Neil Center for Global Markets and Freedom at Southern Methodist University, told Fox News. “And, in Venezuela, the country has basically run out of beer because the government planners couldn’t import enough barley.”

Do We Have to Say It Again?
    Socialism Sucks!
Apparently we do. Because today millions of Americans—young and old—are flocking to the socialist banner and chanting, “What do we want? Socialism—the economic system that has impoverished people everywhere and resulted in the deaths of tens of millions! And when do we want it? Now!”

Trump Says Tim Cook made 'compelling' tariff case

    BEIJING WAITS
NATIONAL POLITICAL ANALYST: Gary S. Goldman is the nationally recognized host of “Business, Politics, & Lifestyles” a weekly talk show airing on WCRN 830 in Metro Boston MA.
President Trump told reporters on Sunday that Apple CEO Tim Cook privately made a "very compelling argument" that the administration's tariffs on Chinese-assembled goods have made an unfair impact on the California-based tech giant, because its chief rival, Samsung, has conducted most of its manufacturing in South Korea and did not have to pay the levy.
The president also issued a stern warning to China, saying there might not be an end to the trade war if the government resorts to "violence" to crush demonstrators in Hong Kong.
Trump announced last week he would delay major new tariffs on China for three months, and his latest comments hinted that more concessions may be forthcoming. The new ten-percent tariffs had been slated to go into effect Sept. 1, and would have affected Apple's signature iPhones and iPads.
In May, Trump increased tariffs on roughly $200 billion in Chinese goods from 10 percent to 25 percent, but later nixed steel and aluminum tariffs on Canada and Mexico. In June, China hiked its retaliatory tariffs against the U.S. by more than 15 percent.

HONG KONG PROTESTING TO REMAIN FREE/CALIFORNIA EMBRACING SOCIALISM
    https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2019-08-07/newsom-embraces-rent-cap-california
Assembly Bill 1482 from Assemblyman David Chiu (D-San Francisco), which is pending in the state Legislature, would limit annual rent increases statewide to 7% plus inflation for the next three years. It would also, over the same period, prevent landlords from evicting their tenants without first providing a reason. The bill would not apply to apartments built within the last decade and, in most cases, to single-family home rentals.
The governor said he wanted to see stricter controls for tenants placed in the bill.–Los Angeles Times
    VICTIM OF SUBSIDIZED HOUSING PROTEST
Michael Gallin, independent real estate professional, real estate development
California is unfriendly to small independent real estate developers
Michael converts rent controlled apartment buildings into condos creating affordable housing for first time buyers.
Most of the buildings Gallin converts are older rent controlled building with architectural charm in San Francisco, Berkley and Los Angeles. It is also a way for owners stuck with rent controlled buildings to sell, and most small property owners are stuck with rundown buildings because rents are so low so they are unable to maintain them, so they have to sell it at low prices. Rent control devalues buildings.
Gallin has been harassed and a subsidized housing protest outside his buildings resulted in a brick flying through a window.
He has had ongoing dispute with tenants union. It is expensive to do the work, construction prices go up because those companies can’t afford to live in city they work in, resulting in higher prices.
Cities in California have rent control and San Francisco has draconian rent control creating a great deal of hostility.
Mike Gallin has “specifically avoided local media because his story is not what they want to broadcast.”
“Never seen such a division where people stop listening to each other”
