STUDY: Napping Appears to Lower The Risk of Strokes As Well As Heart Attacks - Interviews Available
    Story Link: https://www.newsweek.com/napping-day-could-protect-heart-attack-stroke-1458054
Dr. Susana Stoica is available for interviews and says: "The reason napping is helpful is because people take a break from stress, hence reducing the overall levels of stress".
Napping once or twice per week appears to lower the risk of strokes as well as heart attacks and failures, researchers have found. The study involved 3,462 people living in the Swiss city of Lausanne, who had no history of cardiovascular disease at the start of the research. Participants were aged between 35 and 75, and joined the research between 2003 and 2006. They reported how often they napped per week and for how long at the start of the study, then twice more between April 2009 and 2012, and May 2014 and April 2017.
    About Dr. Susana Stoica
Dr. Susana Stoica was born with the gift of being able to detect irregularities/stresses in the human energy field and correct them. Over the years she used her medical intuition to help doctors find the root cause of chronic illnesses and used her inborn healing abilities to help the healing process. She has a special ability to work with brain trauma, be it concussion, stroke, or other brain field irregularities. Dr. Stocia was trained as an engineer and holds a Ph.D. in Computer Engineering with a thesis in building computers with circuits modeling the brain cell functionality.
After suffering a double concussion that rendered her incapable of doing everyday activities (finding words to express herself, reading, sorting, cooking, etc.) she looked for the type of help she was offering others for years. When she could not find that type of help, she decided to write a book about brain injury recovery to help others with her knowledge accumulated both as a healer and a person who recovered from a double brain trauma. It is called “Heal your Brain, Reclaim your Life: How to Recover and Thrive after Concussion”

PRESSURE AND STRESS, YES IT'S BACK TO SCHOOL TIME
BUT WAIT, CALIFORNIA HAS MADE IT ILLEGAL TO SUSPEND DISRUPTIVE STUDENTS
    GOOD IDEA OR BAD?
    https://www.sacbee.com/news/politics-government/capitol-alert/article234912107.html
California students missed more than 150,000 days of school because of suspensions for unruly behavior in the 2016-17 academic year, according to a California Senate analysis of SB 419.
Skinner and other supporters of the bill argued that students of color are disproportionately affected by such suspensions.
SB 419 “may be one of the best ways to disrupt the school-to-prison pipeline,” Skinner said.
SB 419 was also praised by civil rights activist Dolores Huerta, who said in a statement that, “I strongly believe that SB 419 will bring justice to California youth by eliminating suspensions for disruption and defiance, putting an end to discriminatory discipline policies and instituting restorative justice practices.”–The Sacramento Bee
SPECIAL GUEST AUTHOR: Dr. Warren Farrell, author of The Boy Crisis: Why Our Boys Are Struggling and What We Can Do About It. Dr. Farrell is currently the Chair of the Commission to Create a White House Council on Boys and Men.
    What is the boy crisis?
It’s a crisis of education. Worldwide, boys are 50 percent less likely than girls to meet basic proficiency in reading, math, and science.
It’s a crisis of mental health. ADHD is on the rise. And as boys become young men, their suicide rates go from equal to girls to six times that of young women.
It’s a crisis of fathering. Boys are growing up with less-involved fathers and are more likely to drop out of school, drink, do drugs, become delinquent, and end up in prison.
It’s a crisis of purpose. Boys’ old sense of purpose—being a warrior, a leader, or a sole breadwinner—are fading. Many bright boys are experiencing a “purpose void,” feeling alienated, withdrawn, and addicted to immediate gratification.
So, what is The Boy Crisis? A comprehensive blueprint for what parents, teachers, and policymakers can do to help our sons become happier, healthier men, and fathers and leaders worthy of our respect.

Hey, Athletes: Forget the Sugary Sports Drinks - Drink a Banana
An interview with Top Banana, Steve Gelerman
For athletes and weekend warriors needing an energy boost and a way to replace electrolytes sweated out in the gym or outdoors on the playing field, the go-to solution has been to chug down a colorful, sugary sports drink.
But a natural foods industry veteran says there is a much healthier (and cheaper) way to replenish those lost carbs and electrolytes:
    Drink a banana.
A team of clinical researchers at Appalachian State University found that bananas were as effective as the leading sports drink in providing nutritional support to endurance cyclists during intensive and prolonged exercise says, Steven Gelerman, CEO of Banana Wave. Their study1 showed that bananas also provided the cyclists with antioxidants not found in sports drinks as well as a greater nutritional boost which included fiber, potassium and Vitamin B6. In addition, bananas provided a healthier blend of sugars than sports drinks.
With such an impressive nutritional profile, it's easy to see how bananas helped the athletes in the study, and why the yellow fruit earned its reputation as the World’s First Super Food nearly 100 years ago, says Gelerman.
Gelerman, whose Boca Raton-based company formulated and now markets the first non-dairy milk made from bananas as an alternative to dairy, nut, and rice milk, says he is a life-long banana enthusiast,.
I learn something new about bananas virtually every day, Gelerman says. For instance, bananas are a great source of prebiotics and help keep our intestinal flora healthy. They're also a great snack for dieters; Under-ripe bananas are loaded with resistant starch -- which the human body digests very slowly, making it a powerful natural appetite suppressant that keeps us feeling full hours after eating it. For those struggling to lose weight, Gelerman suggests eating a slightly green banana 30-minutes before meals; you'll find yourself eating far less at the dinner table.
Another banana fact that may surprise some is that bananas are rich in pectin, a fiber that absorbs heavy metals and toxins from the body, says Gelerman. Pectin can actually help smooth your skin and reduce the appearance of wrinkles. Pectin content is why bananas have a reputation as one of the top ten anti-aging foods, he says.
Bananas are perhaps best-known as being a great source of potassium; about 422 milligrams in each 7-inch medium-s

  • Ep. 12/20/2020 - BGE presents:LeAnn Hull
SUICIDE! How to Live When You Want to Die. When the only choice a Mother has is to live, and make sense of an unspeakable grief.
In How to Live When You Want to Die, LeAnn Hull opens up about the heartbreaking experience of losing a child to suicide and the subsequent discovery of a purpose-driven conviction to spread love, inspiration and encouragement in the midst of her grief. Her message strikes a welcome chord with anyone struggling through loss or trauma of any nature.
Hull lost her 16-year-old son to suicide in 2012. Andy was a great student, a star pitcher scouted by major league baseball teams, on his way to becoming an Eagle Scout, and was dearly loved by his friends. Andy’s suicide sent a piercing thunderbolt through the hearts of many thousands of people—his family, his friends and his community.
September is Suicide Prevention and Awareness Month.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in 2017, suicide was the second leading cause of death among individuals between the ages of 10 and 34 in the United States.
In 2017, there were an estimated 1,400,000 suicide attempts, and on average there are 129 suicides per day according to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
LeAnn Hull was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona where she has been married for 39 years and raised four children. While raising their kids, she and her husband, Clay, owned and operated a construction company named Arizona Window Center. Being self-employed allowed her the time to invest in their children’s lives and in the community in which they lived. This journey was to last for the next 28 years.
Hull's goal is to spread love, and offer encouragement for those affected by traumatic events such as loss. Because retreating into her anguish was not an option, Hull chose to manage her pain by sharing her story and creating Andy Hull’s Sunshine Foundation, with a message of raising awareness of steps to prevent suicide. Simply put: she wants to help others cope with tragedy and find peace. Hull currently speaks at venues including schools, hospitals, military bases and prisons.

    Andy Hull’s Sunshine Foundation
