Ryan G. Hinds has always been an unabashed lover of the classic musical XANADU, and with the passing this summer of the awe-inspiring Olivia Newton-Jones, Bil thought it would be great to have him on the show to talk about what he loves about it. And he and Bil have WORDS about this.

It’s a guest’s choice episode, and I knew I could count on my friend Heath to go CanCon on me. I was happy with the choice, however, as it was a film I had somehow never seen before and was very happy to finally catch up with. Based on a Brad Fraser play that I loved, Love And Human Remains was Denys Arcand’s first foray into English-language filmmaking, and we take a look to see how it has aged after thirty years.

Bil never needs an excuse to talk about his favourite show, so it was a thrill for him when Robert Watson, a fellow Ab Fab fan, asked to discuss the 2016 film adaptation of the greatest show of all time on the podcast. Follow Robert’s Instagram, check out his live comedy shows .

It was a great honour to us that the delightful James Gibson-Bray agreed to sit down with Bil Antoniou and talk about a film that defies all understanding, the recent Canadian-made romantic comedy My Fake Boyfriend by Rose Troche.

Making the acquaintance of social media luminary and now inspired Substack author Mark O’Donovan (aka Dublin Zoetrope) has been one of BGM’s biggest gets. Bil had the thrill of getting Mark back on the show for a second time to talk about a film that covers the biography of another brilliant Irishman, Brian Gilbert’s Wilde. Bil hadn’t seen it in more than 20 years and was very curious to see how it held up!

If a Bernadette Peters movie isn’t good and Daniel doesn’t see it, does it even exist? He and Bil decided to take a look at her leading role in Merchant Ivory’s ill-fated Slaves Of New York.

Bil’s guest for this episode is the incomparable film scholar Gregory Rosebrugh, who has graced BGM with his presence four times in the past. Greg and Bil take in one of 2021’s most celebrated LGBT+ films, Firebird by Peeter Rebane, and discuss whether or not it meets the mark of being a truly powerful and important love story.

There’s just nothing like seeing a movie about S & M directed by the man who made sure your mother enjoyed Valentine’s Day, New Year’s Eve and Mother’s Day. Just for a special treat, we decided to cover the obnoxiously straight classic bomb that was one of the worst reviewed films of 1994, which some of us actually watched in a movie theatre and enjoyed! Join Daniel and Bil as they talk about Exit To Eden by Garry Marshall

If you need to make a film about a sensitive social topic that pleads for tolerance, the best person to choose is the man responsible for some of the most nefarious anti-Semitic propaganda of the war years, right? That certainly seems to have been the thinking behind the making of this week’s classic The Third Sex by Veit Harlan
