Mark 8: Jesus’ humor & @jimbeamofficial Straight Bourbon.

This week on the podcast, we discuss Mark 8 and Jesus’ sense of humor in healing the blind man.

Jesus is perfect and could’ve healed him with just a word but instead, he spat on his eyes, and placed his hands over the man’s eyes and asked him if he could see. The man said he could see, but the men looked like trees walking around?

Now I’ve always viewed this verse as Jesus’ sense of humor in not healing him all the way but our guest this week @jordangrigsby offered a different perspective that maybe this was a metaphor: mankind thinks that we can see things clearly, but our sight is obscured or blurred and we need God’s help to truly see things as they are. Simply beautiful.

This is why I love this podcast and page so much: Being able to have frank conversations about the Bible, while enjoying bourbons and brews. There’s nothing else like it!

There’s also nothing quite like @jimbeamofficial Straight Bourbon. Sometimes thought of as “lower end” or even “well/bottom shelf”, it’s a delightfully smooth bourbon with a distinct smoky flavor that the Beam family has crafted for 8 generations. Im looking forward to touring their distillery in a few weeks and maybe @jimbeamofficial can give us a behind the scenes tour or be a guest on our podcast?!?!

We discuss the origins of beer, the origins of modern day beer, we chat about IBUs and what they mean, and our man Jesus calling out the hypocrisy of the religious leaders!

The @eelriverbrewing Anniversary Ale we sampled and reviewed was a fantastic bourbon barrel aged brew. Chocolatey and sweet coming in at 12.4% ABV and a decent 80 IBUs. A spectacular brew that’s a perfect way to celebrate National Beer Day!

The faith of the disciples is lacking this week, in SPITE of all the miracles Jesus performed. The flavor from the Belching Beaver PB Stout was NOT lacking. It's like a peanut butter cup blended with beer. OMG it was fantastic!
