🕊️ What Happens in Matthew 22

1. The Parable of the Wedding Banquet
A king prepares a wedding feast for his son, but the original invited guests refuse to come, ignore the invitation, or attack the servants. The king then opens the invitation to everyone, both bad and good, yet one guest refuses to wear the proper wedding garment.
This scene reveals a deep truth:

• God’s invitation is wide open.

• Entrance still requires transformation.

• We must be clothed in the righteousness of Christ, not our own efforts.

2. Taxes to Caesar - Loyalty to God and Country
The Pharisees and Herodians try to trap Jesus with a political question about paying taxes to Caesar. Jesus asks whose image is on the coin and replies,

“Give therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's.”
Earthly authority has its place, but our deepest loyalty belongs to the One whose image we bear.

3. The Sadducees and the Resurrection
The Sadducees, who deny the resurrection, present a complicated story about a woman who marries seven brothers. Jesus exposes their misunderstanding of both the Scriptures and the power of God and reminds them that God is the God of the living, not the dead.

4. The Greatest Commandment
A lawyer asks which commandment is the greatest. Jesus answers with perfect clarity:

• Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, and mind.

• Love your neighbor as yourself.
  All the law and the prophets hang on these two commands.

5. Jesus Question about the Christ
Jesus then asks his own question: “What do you think about the Christ? Whose son is he?”
By quoting Psalm 110, he shows that the Messiah is not only the son of David but also David’s Lord. Fully man and fully God. The religious experts have no answer and stop questioning him.
