What’s the difference between knowing about God and actually knowing Him?
In the very first episode of "Bible Club with David & Mikayla", we’re starting at the beginning with our story, our relationship, and the journey that changed the way we understand what it means to truly know God.
We met in middle school, dated throughout high school, and have now been married for more than 10 years. Along the way, faith and the Bible have been a major part of our lives. But for David, there came a moment when God revealed something difficult: he knew a lot about God, but he wasn’t sure he truly knew Him.
David had grown up in church, studied Scripture, and knew how to be a “good Christian.” Then God began exposing the Pharisee in him. The self righteousness, judgment of others, and focus on outward morality had become a substitute for genuine intimacy with God.
That conviction changed everything.
In this episode, we talk about the difference between knowing about God and knowing God intimately, how our relationship with Scripture changed, and why we believe the Bible is not simply a book to master. It is an invitation to know the God who wrote it.
David also shares some of his background studying Scripture, including a bachelor’s degree in Christian Studies and a master’s degree in Practical Theology and Messianic Judaism. But one of the greatest lessons he has learned is that biblical knowledge should never become a substitute for actually knowing God.
If you want to grow closer to God, understand the Bible more deeply, and develop a genuine relationship with Jesus, welcome to the club.
