Jesus died on the cross at 3 pm on the day of his crucifiction and by late afternoon Joseph of Arimathea had  taken his body down from the tree and with Pilate's permission he was allowed to bury it.  It was prepared for burial by the women who had been at the cross and Joseph and Nicodemus who supplied the burial cloths and 75 pound of spices. He was dead and he was buried. Jesus burial is part of the good news. Why? Explore it from the Scripture.

When Jesus of Nazareth died on the cross a startling event occurred in the Temple courts- the veil dividing the Holy Place from the Most Holy Place  place was torn in two by the invisible hand of God! This miraculous event is highly significant, It is a picture of the finished work of Messiah Jesus on behalf of his people when his body was torn open on the cross.  He put away our sin forever and the way into the presence of God is forever open for those who believe on his Name. Draw near to God and cry out from the heart those words of responding love- "Abba Father."

The week of Jesus crucifixion he was the central figure in two processes. He entered Jerusalem on the first day that we now call Palm Sunday announcing his kingship. Later in the week he took the journey to his place of execution- Skull Hill. Come journey with Jesus with me.

Legalism was a problem in the early churches and it continues today. It rears its ugly even in fundamental and evangelical Christian groups and individuals. The average person in the world tends to regard Christianity as a negative.  Christians have often contributed to this attitude by the way we accent what we do not do as believers rather than what God has now enabled to do.   As Paul writes in Romans 13:10, Love is the fulfillment of the law.  As Jesus inferred in his teachings we have not truly obeyed a prohibition unless we do the good God intended.  James writes, So it is sin to know the good and yet not do it. (James 4:17)
