Skipping church to play video games at the arcades wasn't enough to keep God out of Sven's life. Treasured relationships led to personal faith in Jesus, which has helped through some of life's hardest challenges.

In this Bible Jazz special mini-series, "Stories of Faith," hear from real people about their experience with Jesus. What was life like before you decided to follow Jesus, and what led up to that decision? When you made that decision, what happened and how did you feel? Since you started following Jesus, what has life been like?

Miraculous healing. Does it exist? How does it work? Can it happen even when someone doesn't expect it?

David Chotka has become convinced that God has been speaking with us, but we just don't realize it. Moreover, God who is sovereign and is always the One who takes initiative insists on that initiative being enacted through human beings...just like us.

Karen grew up Christian in America's heartland unaware of people of other faiths and cultures. She pursued the American Dream and built a successful corporate career. She never thought about sharing her Christian faith, especially across cultures. Then she met and married a man who had been persecuted and tortured for his Christian faith in Islamic-ruled nations. He took her to the Middle East on a life-changing adventure. Soon after the Bejjani's founded a ministry that would go on to inspire and embolden tens of thousands of everyday believers around the world to share their faith across cultures in their everyday lives.

Raised in Trinidad and Tobego, Troy was raised in a Catholic home and owes much to the path cleared for him by his family. But he also managed to break rules in unconventional ways, challenging norms and questioning teaching that seemed out of alignment. At age 14, he found himself in detention, where his teacher gave him a book on yoga. Troy's life would never be the same.

Do you avoid reading the Bible because...well, why should you? It's ancient and covered in dust. And yet so many people do read it. Is it possible that a person can be transformed by reading the Bible? If so, how?

Brian Russell (Ph.D.) is an award winning professor of biblical studies at Asbury Theological Seminary and a transformational coach for pastors and spiritually-minded professionals. He's also an ordained minister and has served faith communities in Kentucky, Virginia and Florida. His personal mission is to seek out, study, and embody the deepest truths about God so that he can share them compellingly, lovingly, and transformationally with others.
